Need some confirmation for replacement parts

Hi, I need to replace my rear bumper cover. I have an 03 coupe. It looks like you can't get them pre-painted, so I assume I would need something like this:

http://www.carparts.com/details/Infi...PI760114P.html

And then just find a shop to paint it?

Also, what is the part for the large panel to the rear on the passenger side called? Quarter panel? The large part just behind the door, does anyone have a link for that? I am having trouble finding it.

If you are explaining what I think you are then you won't be able to find it. Quarter panels aren't sold separately, they are a part of the entire shell. Doors, fenders and bumpers are the only body parts that are removable and replaceable. Anything else would mean expensive body work.

You can get a quarter panel from another - wrecked - G35 and replace yours

Here's everything that comprises the bumper section.

Yes rear quarter panels are available, yes it will require a substantial amount of body work to replace and is probably not something you want to tackle yourself if you aren't familliar with body work. It's not necessarily HARD, it's just very time consuming.

If I needed a new rear bumper this is who I go to, not some aftermarket plastic trash that may or may not fit! Damaged side panel, you'll need to have a body shop fix that! When they're painting the side panel they can paint your rear bumper too!

Thanks guys.

Yowza that rear quarter panel is expensive. Yeah I won't mess with it.
Do you think it's possible to paint my own bumper?

This video looks pretty decent:
and it doesn't look too insane to get it right.

Well those were dealership prices so yeah, a little spendy. If you have never done automotive paint before I would shop for a good shop in the area that won't gouge you, it requires some specialty equipment (hvlp sprayer and compressor) and there is an ART to painting that takes a few months to develop.

So you can't do it like in that vid with just some spray cans and whatnot?

Man. I'm trying to sell my guy (sadly) and I just got some more damage I'm gonna have to call a claim on, and I already had damage on the rear bumper, so trying to do as much as I can on my own ><.

I didn't watch the vid, the problem with aerosol is a narrow and CIRCULAR fan of spray and the inconsistency of pressure. A skilled painter can make do with very little as long as you're willing to do a significant amount of sanding and polishing when you're finished. The hardest part would be getting an exact match for color.

If you're just doing this to turn around and sell that's completely different, I STRONGLY suggest contacting a local school trade center (if you have such things locally) that has an auto tech shop for students and ask if they can help you out. Most are looking for donor vehicles for students to practice on under the instruction of a supervisor and the work is typically -decent-

Wow great idea! I'll look around and have my fingers crossed. I unfortunately did a bunch of damage over time (I was a shitty owner honestly) mostly because of money. Now when I almost had everything patched up, I went and did more damage to it =/. Feel like at the rip old age of 34 I'm 10x worse driver than when I was 19.
