Carbon fiber hood question??
 

I’m considering picking up a VIS hood tomorrow from a guy on offer up who’s selling it for a good deal but before I put the okay I got a couple questions before I purchase it.

1st:Is installing it fairly easy or do I need a pro to install it ?

Do I need hood pins? I’ve heard horror stories of the aftermarket hoods opening up at high speeds on the highway and I want to avoid it at all cost.If so how does one install them?

3rd:The vis hood has ventilation holes but I’m wondering if that’s going to be a problem if rain/water goes in my engine when washing my car?

3: Non issue. Intake is really the only thing you need to be careful around.

Ran one for 5 years, never needed pins.

Install is easy, 2 bolts on each side. Might need someone to help hold the hood.

You don't NEED pins but I strongly recommend using them, so does the manufacturer. Since the CF will shatter instead of bending like the OEM metal there's always that chance that something starts to fracture and with a 160mph top speed it's a good way to lose your hood and probably the windshield.

Would a carbon hood look good in my car? What’s your guys opinion before I purchase it tomorrow

For an aggressive hood you need an aggressive car. For it to look good you will need new wheels, new front bumper, new grill, probably new side skirts, and a drop.

My opinion on carbon hoods is that they're a waste of money on a car with a factory aluminum hood and the money should better be saved for a paint job or future bodywork or spent on mechanicals/maintenance.

Yes the hood will LOOK GOOD but the previous two posts pretty much spell it out for you.

If you're going for cosmetic upgrades I would prioritize clear corners, debadge, TINT THOSE WINDOWS!!!!, invest in quality cleaning products.

Then bumper + side skirts. Then hood + trunk. Wheels are everything to some folks, nothing to others, place them wherever you see fit.

I'll tell you honestly, if your only cosmetic mod is a wild looking hood then it's not going to look good.
