do G35's have data recorders?
I was reading a TIME magazine article in the August 14, 2006 issue and it was saying some cars nowadays have EVR's (event data recorders) that can record things like speed/braking/engine RPMs from the seconds before and leading to an accident where airbags get deployed. Does anyone know if they have these on G35s (or which states are not allowing their use)? die fascist pigs

I'm not sure about the G but my friend says that BMW's definitely have this. He has owned several BMW's now and really knows his sh1t when it comes to Bimmers. I wouldn't doubt it if G's had the same thing.

I'm pretty sure they do. Most new cars have them today, and if the Z has it then you can bet our G's have it too.

anyone got any info about how i can remove this recorder (assuming that it's there)?
i didn't sign up for this |
You people are simply watching too much TV. WTF, are our G's commercial planes now with black boxes? Get a grip people, its a car, not Flight 93. The only thing that stores information is our ECU and that happens to be our Fuel Maps, Timing control, the rest of Engine Management, Radio stations, Mileage, and the REV light. Some people are going insane I tell ya...

Read the owner's manual

:) Yah some cars had it as early as 98 i think it was chevy's that started it and Benz. For what i remember they keep info of how much throttle, how long, How high is ur RPM, and How much and how long you applyed the brakes. Insurance company or the Cops have the right to download this if your vehicle get in to a big accident.
I also remembered that they where planing to use a Big Brother watch program where they can shot down your car if u try to run away from cops or if you use excesive speed. Chevy already have system where their cars can send out signals and let the dealer know if you car need some service done. |

How sure of this are you? I don't think they are in Nissan/Infinitis but they do exist and are indeed installed on some cars. This did start as early as 1996 or so.
