I can't believe this.

:o I'd like to say before hand that I KNOW there are a lot worse things happening to people in the world...but I'm still pissed about this.

2 Weeks ago I got my new wheels, 20" Stern St2's with Falken 285/30/20 tires in the rear. Fast forward a week and I catch a nail in my right/rear tire, RIGHT BETWEEN THE TREAD AND THE SIDEWALL. I plug it with TWO plugs because the whole was kinda big. Today I pull my car into my shop...and I noticed that my left/rear tire is low as hell on air. I was like "What the FACK!". I look at the nail and could not believe my eyes...the sharp end of the nail was sticking out a half inch. I start to pull it out thinking it was just half a nail or something....but no...it was a 3 INCH NAIL THAT WENT INTO MY TIRE HEAD FIRST. What the hell...so I plugged THAT hole with 2 plugs too. Now i gotta get 2 new tires. Worst part of all is that i've only put 100miles on these tires.

Have you guys had any seriously shatty luck with your cars?????

Dam,sorry to hear that.!!
My buddies catch nails and all sorts of stuff all the time.!!
They get pissed as well.!!
Good luck down the road.!!

Looks like someone doesnt like you...

is there a lot of construction where you live? When they were building a lot of houses around my area I used to pick up nails and screws all the time. I had 6 drywall screws in one tire at one time on my Mazda. Sucks...

Hate when that happens :(
Don't worry, it's not just you and your luck.
I've somehow aquired the nick-name of 'lighting rod' from my brother-in-law. LOL.
Hate that name....

damn man that sucks.

Believe it............

It's just a phase your going thru....they don't last
long. Get the two new tires and watch where you
drive.....stay away for construction sites and alleys!!

I got a screw about 1/6 of an inch in my tire as well, although it was not on the side wall. I pulled it out rather easily and luckily it didn't go in very far because it was a screw and not a nail. However, my freaking dealership (South Bay Infiniti) has a nack of messing something up on my car when I bring it in to get something done.

First the scratch my front bumper and had to repaint the entire thing. It turned out nice though and got rid of the rock chips. My coupe is one year old.

Second time, they scratch my OEM rims and said they repaird it. I'm picking it up tomorrow and will see how that goes. They said if I don't like it, they'll get me a new one. I don't want a new one as I hear they will replace it with an 06 and mine is an 05, so the color will be off.

So, it's not just you. We all have our little "phases" :p

:D Glad to hear I'm not the only douche that goes through this crap. I seriously try to avoid emergency lanes, alleys AND construction sites. I can't really do much else...it's just destiny I guess.

I'm sorry to hear that. I got 3 punctures in a month on my motorcycle, 2 rear and one front, a while back going to the ship yard. Then I was a noob and paranoid so i bought a new tire every time. Now I would have them patch/plugged.

BTW, I'm not sure how I feel about having two plugs per hole in your tire, especially near a sidewall.

That's why I need to replace the tires. I can't believe how big these holes are. And I STILL can't believe how the nail went in backwards...it's ridiculous. I'm just driving on these tires till I order the new ones.
