i got test pipes on my car and spaced my muffler about an inch away and i got intake. I think it sounds good for a home made exhaust until i can afford a full exhaust lol.i would definitely get test pipes, i personally think its worth it and could tell a difference when i got to about 75 or 80mph. The smell is nothing to worry about, you only get a wiff of it when the car is stopped and the wind is blowing towards my windows.
But i want to get a plenum spacer but if i do would it be best to get the Kinetix V plenum first?

So what do you guys recommend for me? I'm not trying to go real crazy, just add a little bit of horsepower and make it sound nice.. Not trying to spend too much money. Maybe like $2g max for now

Here's what I would recommend assuming your bone stock and have a 5AT. If you have the manual transmission add a MREV2 to my list.

1. Drop in filter in the stock air box-$40
2. Z tube-$50
3. MD 5/16" spacer-$250
4. High flow cats-$300
5. Exhaust-$800
6. Osiris tune-$550

That's $1900 and the prices I quoted are for new parts. If you shop around and get some, if not all, of these used (except for Osiris) you could possibly get the total down to around $1500 or less depending what exhaust you end up with.

Do all of this and your car will be a whole different animal. I'd also add sway bars to the list if you can afford them. They'll make a huge difference in the handling to go along with your new power.

Cai is without a doubt better than short ram for Ny n/a engine youre going to lose. Lot to heatsoak with most systems set up as short. There are a few like i believe the stillen that draw air from two places and do well with preventing that but deff on a cai preference. Also, n/a motors need no aftermarket intake manifold theyd lose power with that option and as far as plenums, spacer is a good and common mod but thats Bout all you need. Exhausts will give you a gain and i like stock sound but i like a little more purr to my tone and hfc's i say the same; you will see gains but they are for more higher hp setups but boost usually calls for test pipes. As far as anything else, not worth the time and the issues that would come about unless youre boosted and then need to work into the lower part and internals of your VQ. Again, only one mans opinion.

which high flow cats and exhaust are you referring to for those prices? also even after all those mods, what more does the osiris tune net you?

I have a 2007 G35s Sedan 6MT, I wanted to lower it and add stiffness to my ride without alot of cash, so I did research on the springs and spring rates and found out that 2009 370z Springs would work under my car. Some people say that the rear springs are too short, but I drive it daily and it lowered the car exactly 0.85in Front and Rear.
