Before my G35 Coupe... this was my pride and joy

Re: Before my G35 Coupe... this was my pride and joy
It's a CLK430 (275hp). And yes it's a great looking car, BUT it's kinda boring to drive. It doesn't have rack and pinion steering and it feels vague. The G35c is much more of a drivers car.
Anyway I've had the CLK for a year and half and it was just time for something new. I have NO regrets!!!

I miss my old ride too...right up until it's time to smog that thing! Over 475 rwhp (supercharged 383), that would have me sideways in 2nd gear on a 40 mph roll!

Re: Before my G35 Coupe... this was my pride and joy
Here's my old pride and joy (I was another Pontiac buff for quite a while). She had great American torque, but no top-end. Even though it did weird things no mechanic could figure out, I was gonna keep it, until I found out my insurance would double w/ both cars (am I the only one who thinks insurance companies make no sense sometimes?).

Re: Before my G35 Coupe... this was my pride and joy
Here's mine when she was brand new. But it's only been a week since I let her go, so I still Miss "her" . I've only had the "G" for a week, and had a little bit of "regret" at the beginning. But I"m getting over it now .

Re: Before my G35 Coupe... this was my pride and joy
Thanks. for the compliment. Yes, she was beautiful. I got rid of it so soon becuase it was a daily driver, and I wanted something quiet, better on gas(not that the g is economical), and better build quality. The "quirks" got to me after a while ...slop in the driveshaft, noisy #@$2 rear end, leaking pinion seal, pinging at high temps(probably more of the fact that CA has crappy gas combined with such a high compression engine). But the last straw was when I had a collapsing lifter, and the dealer gave me crap about it, saying the noise was "typical ls1 valvetrain noise"..I do know a little about cars, so it was either a bad lifter or pushrod. Don't get me wrong, the car was reliable(I did drive her hard with quite a few passes at the local drags). One of these days I'll buy an LS1 again.....but this time as a second car........that car pulled hard! And that's the only thing I'll miss about it.
