Sneak-peak of the new HR's NA ability?
BAH!! DISREGARD AND MOVE TO MY LAST POST BELOW
I was reading the current Car & Driver and found this bit under the Paris Auto Show coverage: Renault Nepta Convertible Concept (side-hinged clamshell top) - "...the engine powering the concept car is a high-revving, naturally-aspirated 420HP version of Nissan's 3.5 liter V6." Sounds to me like a built version of the new HR series. Just thought I'd pass it along. I'm looking forward to what the HR has to offer... ...with the exception that it will have me wanting to trade-in my '05 6MT. This thing should make the FI route a little safer and cheaper... ...depending on how greedy you get. :p |
Is this just a new engine that nissian is coming out with? What car is it in?
|
^its in the 07 at the moment....the concept car/08 model can handle up to that much HP
This would make FI alot more safer with an N/A engine as oppose to have diff internals. 420 seems to be pretty respectable IMO...add a few more upgraded Internal parts and you got yourself a winner :D |
It's a concept car. They can claim whatever they wish.
|
Again, let me point out it's a Renault concept car. True, the claim doesn't have to be confirmed. Here's to wishfull thinking.
To clarify, this isn't to suggest that the HR series is going to make anything over 305 HP in the G. What is clear is that 420 NA-HP is out of reach of the current VQ35. While the Renault concept is certainly built for added power, it does suggest to it has a higher potential for NA gains than the current RevUp engine. It's all speculation at this point. |
Can't remember if it's Road & Track, or if it's the current C&D (must be R&T), but this Renault concept was pictured in it, with the text indicating the 420 HP VQ35 is twin-turbo. Obviously, that makes much more sense than 420 NA HP previously reported by C&D. So much for high hopes and speculation about the new HR. ;)
Had to dig to find this thread but I couldn't just let it sit out there knowing, now, that the information isn't correct. |
if it is n/a, dang must have a 15000rpm redline....lol....jkjk. Probably twin turbo unless the na motor was rebuilt by aliens.
|
It's since been confirmed a twin-turbo. Early coverage was not correct. So much for speculation.
"...unless the na motor was rebuilt by aliens." Cosworth has been doing extensive VQ35 R&D for Nissan, so that's not far from the mark. :p |
