Have Gold Brembo's but Want Red One's

Hi Guys/Gals,

First this site have been great in getting my question answered. So I have another stuiped question. I want to have Red Brembo's on my G, right now I have Gold ones, do I have to buy a entire new set of brembo in red to get that, or get this powder coated?

Now easy way to buy Brembo cover or something...just asking...I guess the second question is does anyone in Northern California want to trade Gold for Red....worth a shot.

Zack

you can get yours powdercoated....just have to find a place that will do it...hopefully someone else can chime in on that

you can strip them and get them powdercoated in red. Mine are done in candy blue

I would think you could just get a caliper painting kit from an auto parts store and do it yourself. Just tape over the Brembo lettering.

after you paint your calipers you can use a stencil to paint brembo back onto the caliper...you can also buy a set of brembo caliper stickers i you don't want

to stencil it...here's a link for a stencil http://www.eagleday.com/factorydecals.html

Email Mike at sales@thepowdercoater.com

^^ +1 I've heard amazing things about this guy. Personally, I'd send my calipers to him and have them done professionally. If you paint them yourself it'll look like crud.

Paint won't withstand much heat. Mike is the best. He is a great business guy and personal friend to me. He is hot on the corvette and porsche forums. Local here in Atlanta.

So would buying an old set of Brembos and painting them over be cheaper than buying a new set? You think its worth the time and effort or should I just buy a new set?

zdamen1 11-27-2006 10:44 PM

Ya I have the same question what are the cost diff?

Red calipers.............

It's really easy to accomplish.....you can paint with
caliper paint or high heat paint. Mask off the Brembo
lettering after you clean the calipers and paint. Mine
have been on for well over a year....no fade or chips.

From www.thepowdercoater.com ....

http://www.thepowdercoater.com/pricing.shtml

"I offer my services at reasonable rates. However, due to the varied nature of the condition of parts, and how much prep work is required, most parts must be quoted on an individual basis. Here are some typical prices:
Brake calipers (set of 4) $150-$250 depending on the type of caliper
Wheels (up to 18") $250-$350
Valve covers $10/cylinder"

That's much more economical than getting a new set of calipers, don't you think? lol

There's also someone here who's had their Brembo calipers powdercoated purple, they look really good too.

If you can afford some down-time on your car, I would say send them to thepowdercoater.com guy. Lots of good feedback on his work.
