97 supra or 04 g35 coupe????

okie in the next few months to come i have the option to buy my friends supra

its a 97 NA w/ like 155k miles and she told me i can have it for $7k. i would spend another 1200 on another NA motor to drop in ther b.c of the amount of miles!

now what my debate is do i really want to buy the supra or use ALL that money down towards a used G with really low miles and pay payments!

i mean for one insurance wont rape me on the supra for sure for full coverage, i checked. 2nd it would be paid off.

now with the G i dont know how much insurance would be, it is alot faster then the NA supra, but wont be paid off

both cars do look amazing! i love both cars! but i duno what to do ! i like the idea of having a car that is paid off ahahah

what you guys think? i mite find biased answers hahaha

anyyways just leave some input!!

if i was in your position i'd go for the supra ASA you were planning on putting a lot of money into it... e.g. F/I it, redo everything correctly, etc... but that is a lot of money to consider.

do you want a solid car or do you want a car that you will need to do a lot of work on to get it into condition?

Are you going for speed or for looks. Then agian it sounds like the g35 wins in both catagories.

Now it also sounds like this might be a financial decision. I can't see your portfolio but i have a feeling you making payments and insurance might stress you. If you are in college and you have nothing to worry about buy the car i guess. When i was in college i had many motorcycles (granted i wasn't pinching pennies too badly) and waited till i got out of college with phenomenal job to get the G a few weeks ago. Yes i could have afforded the G in school, with parents paying insurance. But then i would have had no money to drink away. Or to buy condoms that would ensue from having a g ;)

Anyhow buy the supra, not sure i want you in the fam

If you don't go for the Supra let me know I'll take it off your friends hands. I'm also selling my G just incase you go that route. Let me know. Thanks

well i posted it on the supraforums and i think one of the mods was saying dont be scared of a 2jz with 155k miles or even 160k miles, he was saying most people on the boards would say that is like the break in point for the motor! But if its like that i can take the xtra 1200 and go na-t :) and make that supra go pretty fast

i nnono ill see what happens

its not a finanical stress at all if i go with the G, haveing a car that is already paid off would just make things alot more easy and have more money for other things.

NA supra. Overweight pig of a poser sports car. Can be made fast by a turbo engine swap or a turbo kit onto the stock na motor. But stock, a G coupe would rape it two ways from Tuesay and all the way into next month.

NA Supra is like owning a Ford Tarus thats sexy man.... If the supra isnt TURBO THEN DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!! Thats my opinion man. I was in the turbo field for A LONG TIME before getting my G and the supra just isnt looked at the same when its NA. Now the G on the other hand IS A WHOLE DIFF STORY lol... It all depends on if you can also keep up with the payments man... If you know you can then G all the way... TRUST ME YOU WONT REGRET IT! And also cmon its a GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

fastGkid 12-05-2006 02:23 PM

well i would go with the supra if you like paid off cars

g7x5 12-05-2006 02:25 PM

break in point, yea right, my sisters boyfriend bought a 94 na with 160k, he slapped a turbo on it, (the ricer way i might add, no planning or looking at others), and sure enough he slung a rod or something. i was in the your situation a lil while ago, whether to buy 300zx tt and mod it some, or buy a g. I'd go with the g, o' wait i did...

izmir41500 12-05-2006 02:41 PM

depends on the condition of the supra. is the paint good? I'd take the supra and drop in the 2jz-gte, body kit, rims, re-paint if needed and call it a day.

nchima 12-05-2006 02:55 PM

go 4 the supra.

in2win 12-05-2006 03:44 PM

TO THE GUY BUYING THE SUPRA...LOOK INTO DRIFTMOTION.COM. They did a lot of work on my g35 but are primarily focus on toyota supra's. Built the new and older ones up to 500 whp conservatively. A 2jz-gte engine swap is ideal with a 5 speed manual tranny...

D's06G 12-05-2006 03:46 PM

Supra!!! All The Way.

Mark350GT 12-05-2006 04:21 PM

I would do Supra, but i would drop the 2jz-GTE instead of the NA motor. trust me that motor is amazing.

Between a 10-year old Supra and a 2-3 year old G35, I would take the G. I know you would plan on putting a new engine in the Supra, but the rest of the car also has 155k miles on it, so there are a myriad of other issues you may run into. Personally, I've never been a fan of Supras. most "built" ones are simply dyno queens that can't put the power they generate to the ground and the styling really never did much for me. However, if you're handy with a wrench and don't want car payments, it may be the right choice for you. Good luck either way.
