mom's 06 altima quicker than g?
 

my mom has a 06 altima 3.5 se, i just bought an 04 g'coupe 6mt. and it sure does feel like my moms altima is wayyyyyyyyyy faster than mine. im not sure if it really is faster or maybe because its fwd and the torque steer just makes it feel like a beast. but that car is quick! anyone know if it really is faster or does it just feel faster? and no, me and mom aint racing to find out!

they altima is slower. The suspension is completely different too. Think buddy

i sell altimas...the 07 altima with the cvt dont even feel close the G...never drove the 6 speed... i know thats faster then cvt but ill still smoke it.

The original reason I got interested in Nissan/Infiniti was because of a Motorweek test on a 2002 Nissan Altima. The car did 0-60 in 5.9 seconds and the quarter mile in 14.4@100mph. http://www.mpt.org/motorweek/reviews/rt2105.shtml

Right after that, I saw the previews of the G35 in Autoweek and I knew I had to have that car. Funny thing though is that the Altima was faster than the G when it came out. The Altima even had less horsepower and torque than the G, yet ran faster times. I was a little disappointed that the G was slower than the Altima even though it is a better car.

You may be right that the Altima feels as fast or slightly faster than the G. They are pretty good bargains for the money.

the g35 isnt built for speed but it should beat the altima....

if you think its slower you need a new screen name besides g35 C-oupe- Tuner...something like Turnipfrmr

key word here folks ''feels'' like its faster. spec vs. spec the g should be faster. but when i floor the g, and i floor the altima it FEELS like the altima pulls harder.hands down i can tell the g has more torque. but the altima feels like it gets up and moves quicker. like i said im sure its just cuz its an auto fwd.and i too have read that article on the 02 altima pulling a 14.4 bone stock! very,very impressive.

I drove a 2004 auto sedan when I took my 6mt for service. It felt faster just putting around because all you had to do was floor it. I don't hole-shot my car every stop light and slam through my gears, therefore, it doesn't fell as fast. It it came down to a straight-up race, the manual is definately faster, just requires more work.

Doesnt the new Altima have the new Vq motor?? ....Sorry i forgot the new engine code?

So if the new altima motor has 270 HP under the new HP rating then chances are its going to be faster then a 03-04 G's and might even be quicker than the revup motors due to the new/old rating system?

To be honest i always thought the old Vq's in the G and Z were somewhat overrated form the factory in terms of HP figures... ive seen too many dynos' to prove that theory...heres what i would do.

Go find and friend that you trust..I mean a real friend not a "hommie or "dawg" and grab your moms Altima. Have your friend drive the g and you drive the altima and i bet the Altima will beat the G by at least half of a car.
