check out this great video i found (stolen from the latest best motoring video dvd from japan) of the g35 (skyline) vs s2000 vs rx-8 vs wrx vs rsx type r vs roadstar convertible (in japan only).

not sure if anyone has seen this or not (so don't flame), its in japanese but my fiancee (who's japanese) translated a little bit for me. i don't want to ruin the ending but will say its awesome. the pro drivers were shocked at how well the g35 did because they thought it was way too heavy for this field of rather light cars (all less than 3000 lbs or so w/ power from 200-240, not including the g35).

the rx-8 driver kept saying the g35 was too fast on the straight aways. in fact, the g35 absolutely destroys the rx-8 so that should put to end all those posts about the rx-8. i'll put this email up on the rx-8 forum http://www.rx8club.com/ also (while not trying to piss people off, yeah right). also, the 2004 acura tl forums give huge respect to the g35. never seen anything like it: http://www.acura-tl.com/forum/showth...0&pagenumber=1

anyway, they staggered the g35 at the back of the pack based on hp i think. i can't believe how easily we dusted the wrx also (oops, had to let that one out). the g35 driver said the g35 is really powerful and well balanced. he ponders in the middle of the race that if the g35 was 2 inches lower in height like the 350z, the g35 would be simply amazing. in the middle of the race, they said the g35 was so damn heavy, but shockingly fast, as fast as the leader s2000. at the end, the commentator said that the g35 was closing the gap. after the race, the commentator said no one could believe such a heavy luxury car could finish in.... x place. won't give it away. download the video and enjoy.

This is such a cool video...i watched it the other day at my friend's shop..he had subtitles on the one he had. The guy was sorta commenting about the g35's weight but it did damn good in the end. The s2000 is just an overall good car.

It almost seemed that if it was a lap or three more the G might have made a run. the G got so loose in that last corner that he may have had a run on that straight. I was impressed with the cornering of the G, it held up well against these (supposed) more nimble rides.

one quick question.... i have "heard" that the rx-8 might pull on the G at like an 80 mph roll.... i know down low.. like 3rd gear they can't stay with us for long... any ideas??

I just gave it a quick glance, but is it just me or did the RX-8 finish second last??
behind the RSX? even if that was an RSX Type-R, does the RX8 suck that much?

I have a feeling it was the driver's fault...

Wow, the Skyline did really well, considering that it started at the back of the pack. It looks like they placed the cars in order of HP/accleration to even out any starting line advantages.

It's too bad so much of the Skyline's time was wasted getting around the other cars, because the Skyline driver seemed to be gaining ground on that S2000.

And that poor little RX8 even got passed by the Integra!!

Can anyone post a link to the S2000 forum thread that discusses this video? I'd like to see what the S2000 guys say about it.

isn't the rx8 underpowered or sumthing? I heard mazda rated/listed the horsepower higher than it really is

Im not really sure about this...but what place did the skyline get?? man that poor rx-8, he would have been faster if he got out and pushed it thru the track!!

But that s2000 was fooking eating those corners like nothing! sweet video, thanks for posting! just wish i knew what lap time was the skylines......

1st: the s2000 was 1.08.something
2nd: the skyline was 1.09.something

Very nice!

I like the fact that the G hit the first corner last (due to starting position) but finished a close 2nd to the S2000, and was steadily closing ground on it after getting around the slowpokes.

Nice Vid, The S2k is bad *** on the track and basically what you can get from this is The G and the S are fastest but in the end it will come down to the driver. The RX-8 however, LoL, Passed by an RSX LMFAO!!! One word WEAKKKKKK!
