Why Costco don't sell my the tires?
 

Hi,

I was going to get a price quote from Costco for their S03 because I just purchased new rims for my baby!! However, that guy said he can only sell me 225/45/18 and 245/45/18. I asked him why? and he said that's their policy!! I wonder what kind of policy is that? what's wrong to sell tires to after market rim? ......it's so weird!! can't even get the price quote!!

They wont sell you tires for an aftermarket wheel? They will sell you tires that don't fit that wheel, just because they came standard on the car. Sounds crazy to me. Try Discount Tire. Far more user friendly. My Dunlop SP9000s, 245/40/18 and 275/40/18 cost me $909. installed with balancing, chrome stems and sales tax.

they'll sell any tire size you want at costco. I got my 33 inch BFG muds at costco for my jeep. I wouldn't trust them with my 20 inch wheels though.

I encountered a similar situation at my local Costco. One employee explained that they are very concerned not to install the "wrong" tire on a car, then have this cause a problem, and thus run the risk of a lawsuit.

Keep in mind that tires are not Costco's main focus; tires are just one of many products they sell. We should not expect them to have the sort of tire expertise that would inform safe departures from OEM.

It's Costco dude. Go in their, get the SO3's for cheaper ( I assume they will be cheaper in Costco) and then get a different place to put them on for ya.
