Heel/Toe impossible....

with stock setup. Anyone else have the same messed up setting as me? Fully pressed the brake pedal just gets equal with the gas which is too much. Haven't looked to adjust the pedal yet but the stinkin clutch can't be adjusted. Really lame Infiniti!!!!

Re: Heel/Toe impossible....

I do it all the time with no problem. Maybe I'm lifting my heel a bit, but I only twist out a tad to tag the side/corner of the accelerator, but find it works perfectly.

As far as adjusting the g/p or b/p height, I've never tried.

Re: Heel/Toe impossible....

I know to "master" the heel and toe method requires a ton of practice and talent. Anything is possible. I can't do that myself because of the 5AT, but I've seen it done and it is a masterpiece when performed correctly. Don't hold me against this, but I believe the clutch pedal is adjustable. You may want to PM Daniel_G on this one. He described to me that there is an adjustment on the master cylinder that you use to lower the pedal. He told me that he lowered his pedal right to where he wants it.

Re: Heel/Toe impossible....

With my legs, I cannot do the usual heel-toe setup, I have to use my heel for the break, and toe for the gas. Afraid I cannot rig my leg up the other way (tho this is how I must do it for all cars). Guess I just can't twist my leg the other way, of course it works perfect for me. A lot more comfortable.

Re: Heel/Toe impossible....

I think I got a screwy setup. The brake is like 2 inches higher than the gas pedal. My feet are big so it's kind of a double edged sword. I literally can't hit the gas pedal before stabbing the brake down too hard. My foot just doesn't bend that far that easily. Plus there's quite a bit of seperation between the two. More so than I'm used to. Uuggh I hate minor annoyances like this. I might try it with heel on brake and toe to gas. It might work but I doubt it.

Re: Heel/Toe impossible....

Practice certainly makes a big difference! How quickly you get to master it also has much to do with your foot print. Some people have smaller feet/shoes than the other and may find it 'tougher' to perform. After all, one size does not quite fit all in this case. You may want to look into some after market pedal sets that are optimized for heel-toeing.

In fact, I just finish installing such pedals last night and they made a world of difference. I was able to perform heel-toe no problem with the oem pedals, but these made it effortless.

The clutch pedal is adjustable, I did it on my coupe.
Here is a great thread that will help you with the adjustment:

What kind of pedal adapters are you using, and where did you get them?

Here's the link to the company that sell's the special pedals. They are not the same as 350Z pedals or JDM pedals. "Gas pedal designed specifically for heel/toe shifting." Look at the site and check out how wide the gas pedal is in the kit.

Also, what shoe's you wear while driving can effect how well you can pull off heal and toe operations, the wrong shoe's can really make things tuff.

Thanks for the link. Have you actually installed this in your G? Does it require drilling?

RainMeister,
Yup, I have the pedals from Autovation.
Be ready to spend some good time to do the install.

Re: Heel/Toe impossible....

How do you guys do it? the gas pedal is so much lower than the brake pedal. There is just no way I can hit the brake with my toe and use my heel to press the gas pedal - it's just not there - it's located much lower towards the floor. Have you guys adjusted the gas pedal or something like that?

"Be ready to spend some good time to do the install. "

I installed my autovation pedals in about 30 minutes. Quite simple.
