Stupid Sunroof won't Close....sometimes...

This just started happening about 2 weeks ago when I open it to the tilt position. When I try to close it, it goes maybe a little more than 1/2 way down, then automatically goes fully open. If I hold the button just the right amount of time, it will stop 1/2 way open.

Then I shut off the car, and when I come back later on, it will suddenly close all the way. It doesn't work when I shut it off, pull the key out, and then put it back in and retry. I actually have to wait some time.

Anybody know what's possessing my sunroof?

its the vortech, take it off now and give it to me for further testing

Try this:
INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE
If the sunroof does not close or open automatically, use the following procedure to return sunroof operation to
normal.
1. Close the sunroof if it is not in the closed position. It may be necessary to repeatedly push the switch to
close the sunroof.
2. Press and hold the TILT UP switch. Do not release the switch, keep pressure on it. After 10 seconds of
depressing, the sunroof will tilt up, then stop. Release the button.
3. Press and hold the TILT UP switch again. Do not release the switch, keep pressure on it. While depressing
the switch, the sunroof will “Tilt down” “Slide open” “Slide close”. Release the button after the sunroof
“Tilt down” and stops.
4. Initializing procedure is complete. Confirm proper operation of the sunroof.

If nothing else works take it to the dealer.. My sunroof wouldn't open a few months ago so I took it to the dealer. They said all they had to do was reset it (I don't know how) But it only took a few minutes, maybe that'll work for you too.

Memphoman: I tried that, but it doesn't seem to work correctly? I turn the key to on with the sunroof closed. When I hit the tilt switch, I hold it down, but it opens right away. Then after holding it a few seconds, it tilts back down and closes. It never slides open/closed. Am I doing something wrong? Seems like pretty simple instructions...

I really don't want to take it to the dealer, since I'm out of warranty now.

So? I highly doubt they are going to charge you for a simple reset... Mine was done in a matter of minutes.. The reset itself might just take seconds

The reset didn't really go through, but the sunroof hasn't been acting up the last couple days. I'll continue to monitor it...

Well, the saga continues. When I try to close it from the tilted position, it goes 1/2 way and reopens. Then I hit it again and hold the button, and it will go down. But not all at once...it goes in 3 steps and pauses for a split second in between each.

Pissing me off!

Haha, dude that sucks. Good luck with it, but I'm glad I don't have a sunroof!!!! Yayuh for being tall!
