G35 Coupe scale model

I just got the Fujimi 1/24 plastic kit of the Coupe and thought a little review would interest a few here. This is a Japanese version.. the Nissan Skyline to be exact, so it's not going to match the coupe sitting in your driveway exacty, but many may be satisfied to just build it out of the box.

The kit is very well done. The lines of the model match my G beautifully... the body is beautifully done. The wheels and tires are right on the mark. The lights are done with chrome pieces with clear covers. The interior looks good, but is kind of soft. Very little door detail as with the console. Interesting that it has two shift levers.. the auto and manual and both are detailed very nicely.! Overall it's a great looking kit.

The real problem lies with the Nissan logos in place of the Infinity logo on grill, steering wheel and wheels. Also has Skyline script engraved on the rear deck. It's also left hand drive, but converting to right hand is possible if you possess some good modeling skills. It has no sunroof cast into the roof.

Most of the differences between this and a USA Infinity are minor and this would be viewed by most as a good model of our beloved Coupe. Being the detail fanatic I am with scale model cars, I expect to be fixing all the differences to match my black beauty in the garage. This will not be done overnight, so don't expect any pics for some time! I'll post some in-process construction pics if anyone is interested.

What about a spoiler? The pics I've seen didn't have one. Do you have the skills to make one? Thanks for the review.

Re: G35 Coupe scale model

I received the same model myself today in the mail.....I think its a pretty good representation of our cars.....since I don't have a spoiler on my car...and the right hand drive although not exactly what I wanted...I'm sure I will be able to match all the factory colors inside and out...let me know what you plan to do to replicate the sunroof area.....maybe a small piece of window tint? any way LOL with your build....I'm leaving mine sealed in the box for the time being....2old4this

just run your mouse on top of each image and view the pictures. hard to belive these things can have the capability of running up to 70 MPH (100++KPH)!!!! damn fast for a 1/10 scale.

I'm an avid model builder. Built lots of planes and jets but never a car. Was wondering if this Skyline model would come with a spoiler like our cars do..?

Fujimi is about to release the "Skyline 350 GT NISMO" 1/24 kit. It has all the NISMO bits on it...ft. spoiler, NISMO wheels, rear spoiler, rocker panels, etc. I have had it on pre-order for 2 months. It is due out anyday! Check your local Fujimi supplier.

I saw that pre release model as well when I ordered the skyline GT...I wanted to replicate my own car as close as possible thats why I stuck with this model....once I pick up all the right colors I will probably get it started...right now its still sealed in the box .....20ld4this

"anyone know if there is a twilight blue one that i can buy?"

You have to build these and paint them yourself.

Foxhollow, thanks for the helpful review. I was looking at the Fujimi models tonight. I really wish someone would produce a model kit or a diecast (like the ebbro) that had the Infiniti and G35 markings.

I just ordered a 1/46th (??) fully assembled, painted model from Gubbs Infiniti (Dallas) in Carribean Blue. Hasn't come in yet, so I'm hoping it's cool.

Anyone have one of these yet?

Re: G35 Coupe scale model

The pre-built models are currently only available in 1/43 scale from Ebbro and J-Collection (about 4-5 inches in length). The Fujimi is quite a bit larger than that, and is a plastic kit to be painted and assembled. I'm told that a 1/18 scale pre-built G35 (about 10 inches long) is being planned by Auto Art for release soon. The only pre-built in blue that I've seen isn't the Twilight Blue, but a lighter shade of blue:

Re: G35 Coupe scale model

The Fujimi model has no spoiler, so I'll have to make one to match my car. Probably will just have to carve it out from some thick plastic, but haven't worked that out yet. I'll have to see about some other kits with spoilers that may be usefull as a starting point. It could prove to be one of the tough parts to get right.. it has alot od subtle curves.
