In Australia

Hello everyone

I moved to Sydney, Australia about a year ago and purchased a 96 GTST Skyline but it is time to upgrade to a G35.

Here in Australia the G35 is an Grey Import which means the dealship don't bring them to the country.

So we have a few imported models here that we dont have in the states.

This is what I need help with.

Which year should I get and if you can tell me the difference between the models years.

I will purchased a 2003, 2004, 2005.

Are you looking into a coupe or a sedan would be the first question?

There is a member on this forum that imported one into Australia. His member ID is Waz350GT, try sending him a PM, he might be able to go give you some information.

come visit the Skylines Australia website, for all your skyline information needs!

the site is mainly for R32 / R33 / R34 skylines but has its own V35 section:
http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/for...ines-f170.html

as for the V35 350GT coupe, it began in 2003, series 2 update in late 2004 i think (newer interior). probably can't finy any past 2005 that have been already been brought in as yet.

most are automatic, some are manual and manuals come with the option of brembo brakes on the 03 - 05 models. the auto brakes work more than adequately on the street.

the cars are reliable as all hell, with the main problems being window motor troubles and door lock troubles. engine + gearbox is the same as the 350z.

the crux of buying one is that you want to get one with as many of the major options as possible. the major optiosn really is the "premium pack" which included leather+suede seats, bose amplified stereo upgrade, auto-off headlights, buttons on steering wheel, and dual climate control zones. other smaller options ranged markedly including navigation + TV screen, reversing camera, front camera, 18" wheels, 19" wheels, bodykit, spoiler, sunroof, etc. there was also a 70th anniversary model which came with full "beige" or "stone" leather interior with heates seats (no suede inserts). my advice would be to steer clear of any models that have the cloth seats, no buttons on steering wheel, no TV screen. it will affect you ability to re-sell it in a few years time as no one wants the bone stock model when there are those out there with the works.

the TV screen in japan worked analogue TV, navigation, fuel ecomony, compass, trip computer, etc. in australia it cant pick up TV or nav but there is a work around for nav, check out www.audioexpress.com.au or there is some good info on the forums in the first link i posted

to find one, go to the usual trading post, carsales, etc and just search for skylines >2003 or there might even be a 350GT section.

coupe's can be had for low 30s (no options) to high 30s (lots of optional extras). sedans can be had for low 20s (no options) to high 20s (lots of options).

best of luck!

I've gotta say '04 6MT coupe, not only because I own one, but because it has less problems than the '03, and I do not feel that the interior "improvements" and 18 increased HP of the '05 can offset the loss of 10 lb/ft of TQ and the Brembo brakes.

This is exacly how I feel... It's going to take more than the 05-07 or even the 08 model to have me give up my 04. I've driven and been on the side of each and see little performance benefit and only my buddy driving his G37S 6MT has pulled away in stock form, and that was by about 1 door length from 40-100MPH...
It's about 90% performance and body style and about 10% interior for me and for some reasons, the 04 has a competitive edge.
