My 1st three mods

Well, I finally broke down after 7 months and made some upgrades. Last week i bought the Z-tube and JWT Popcharger. Installed them without a problem. Wow what a difference, very nice whistle sound right around 3k rpm, and a slightly noticable increase in power.

I also ordered Injen exhaust last week which I got installed earlier today. The install went in very easy no problems on that. The car seems to have a little bit more pickup at higher rpms. And the sound, completely different. It sounds great from the outside. My only gripe is how it sounds form the inside of the car at around 1500-2000 rpm cruising speed. It tends to have a bit of droning noise. Im not sure if I like it yet but, Im going to keep it on for now to see if it grows on me. If not I might put the stock back on and there might be an injen exhaust for sale

Re: My 1st three mods

Drive it around for a few hundred miles and see if the drone might go away. Exhaust systems usually take a little break-in time to settle in and the sound will change. Maybe it'll get rid of the drone. Hopefully a G35 owner with the Injen exhaust can comment.

Re: My 1st three mods

Injen SES owner here. 3 months on my car and the drone you describe, is still there. My opinion of the Injen, it is just plain and simple "loud". Also, makes the exhaust note sound like a boat. After the first few weeks, I wanted to take it off and get another system. As time goes by (smell finally gone), the sound is growing on me, or I'm getting use to it. I do cringe when anyone gets in the backseat. I try to drive like a "granny" to keep the noise down, but the drone seems to be worst when I keep RPM's low. The only time I "love" the exhaust note is when I drive her in the mountains for some exercise. As with any aftermarket exhaust systems, it's a love/hate situation. It's what the owner is looking for in performance, sound and looks. For now, I just turn the music up.

Re: My 1st three mods

Thanks for the input rrowen

Well, day 2 with the exhaust I just got back from a ride and I think I am going to remove it and put the stock back on. IMHO the loudness takes away from the luxury aspect of the car. This means that the exhaust will most likely be up for sale. As it stands now I will be going to ATCO at the end of the month. I could bring it down if someone was interested in it. Or when I take it off I can ship it to someone. (I know this isn't the thread to post items for sale.)

Its in mint condition obviously since when its taken off It would have been on the car only a week, most likey less than 100 miles on it. My loss is going to be someone elses gain :/
I will give an update if and when its removed.
Live and learn I guess.

Re: My 1st three mods

I can't believe what I'm reading. I have heard all the exhausts and the only two I like are the injen and stillen. I got the injen for cheap so I put it on. I think it sounds awesome. Hitting 2nd and listening to that roar is the best part. Maybe you should get the borla, it's quiet like stock

Re: My 1st three mods

SoCal,

I like the roar of it when I am accelerating and the sound of it during idle. Maybe its different for a 6MT but I have a 5AT, and when cruising at 40mph its in 5th (or D) gear the rpms are between 1500-2000 it's a bit loud for my tastes.

Im not knocking the exhaust I just think its not for me.

Re: My 1st three mods

I'm not knocking the exhaust either. Mine is still installed. Like I said, everyone has different preferences.
