Clinking noice from rear wheels, anyone having same issue

OK, I have a '04 G35 coupe and for past 2 weeks, I keep hearing "clink clink" noise from my right rear wheels or rear axl. After about 30 min. drive and using brakes moderately, I hear this noise everytime I step on brakes, especially braking on downhill. Does anyone know where or what this noise is about? I took it to Cerritos and end of driving together with mechanic and he told me that this maybe possibly cause by warpt rotor. But, I don't understand how warpt rotor can make metal "clink" sound. The noise sounds like knitted steel stick is getting stretch or twisting. Does anyone have or had this issue? Pls advise.

Thanks

This is a KNOWN problem with the G....there is a TSB that the dealer must perform which requires them to lube/grease the axles and PROBLEM SOLVED!!

I have the same problem, along with thousands of other g35's... too bad the stealership refused to perform the TSB because I have "modified suspension"... bunch of c0cksuckers they are

Yea, I got it too on my '05. I'm bringing it in tomorrow to have them throw some lube on it. Hopefully they won't be d!icks about it!

g35panama 05-30-2008 09:58 AM

i have the same problem, is there anyway to fix it besides the dealership

CreativeDesignZ 05-30-2008 10:11 AM

someone should make a DIY if there is one, or if its just as simple as jacking the car up and using a grease gun it shouldnt be an issue. anyone have any more info on the subject?

I have the same issue on mine and the dealer would not fix it under my $1900 extended warranty. He claimed it has to be under to the "factory" warranty to cover it. He said it was as simple as taking a cover off, cleaning it, re-greasing it and re-assembling it. Sounds easy so I asked for a quote - $350 for the dealer to do it.....a bunch of BS.

Preston 05-30-2008 01:23 PM

Which dealer did you go to? That is some bunch of BS, its clearly faulty issue of axle that is causing this noise and its not under extended warranty? I have that elite extended warranty and if they gonna pull that on me, I'll be so pissed

r0csfinest 05-30-2008 01:26 PM

i had the dealer do it like 3 times and it never went away... now my warranty is expired

CDN_G35 06-01-2008 10:55 PM

I had the dealer do this on friday and the noise is gone now! If you're going to take it in, plan for a couple hours, I didn't realize they needed to take the whole hub off. They did an oil change as well so that probably played a role as well. Either way, they did a good job fixing it!:JAMIN:

its not a warrenty issue. its a problem with the car. they have to address the problem. their is a company wide techical service bulletin. it has nothing to do with installing new shocks or any mods u put on your car.. if you dont get service i would call or write the vp of the company. im sure this will be taken care of if he gets wind of this..
