that's just how it is. there is a daily mileage thread on here do a search for more info. people average 15-17 city, 20-22 highway.

1. Step off the gas.
2. Search - there are countless threads on the topic.

Well, I get 16 in the city in my 04. Recently around 20 on the road, so I suspect that stations are starting to carry ethanol blends. I'm not driving terribly fast, cruise set to 75-76.

This has got to be the first thread I've seen here about the G's gas mileage.

but see it dont make since considering mustangs corvettes and other v8s are getting better gas mileage..something wasnt built right in the fuel system or engine itself..

i think they should be getting 22 to 24 city and 28 to 31 highway...driving 75 on the highway

Most of the people I know who own stock 4.6 V8 Mustang 5-speeds don't get better fuel economy than us(quite a bit worse actually), despite the fact that their cars are lighter than ours, and geared much taller.

True though that Corvettes get better economy than us when driven lightly, but look how much torque they have, how light they are and how obnoxiously tall they are geared, as well as how streamlined that car is.

Truth be told.... our cars could use to be geared a little bit taller for highway cruising, but that would sacrifice acceleration(depending on if they just increased the 6th gear ratio, or if they opted to lower the final drive ratio). I would love to have my 6th gear be something like .70 instead of .79... which would mean that on the highway if you shifted from 5th to 6th gear at 65 MPH, your revs would drop from 3000 RPM to about 2100 RPM during that shift compared to our real-world gearing right now which drops you from 3000 RPM's to about 2380..... or at 80 MPH in 6th gear, we could be doing just under 2600 RPM's instead of the just over 2900 RPM's that we spin right now... which probably means about 2 more MPG on the highway.

Our engines put out plenty of power to pull that on the highway without lugging, and from what I've seen by watching my scangauge and real-time fuel economy output on my Nav in my G35..... the engine seems to operate most efficiently(in terms of economy) in the 1600-2200 RPM range.

+1...i find shifting around 2200 rpm to be perfect. obviously there are times when i need to rev it up a bit higher, but with the amount of torque the G's have, there's no reason to be shifting higher than 2500 (unless your going on a spirited run or street racing in a school zone).

i get 13mpg with average driving, so i would love 15mpg.. :icon04: but who cares about gas mileage, gas is still cheaper then 1 gallon of coffee.

sell the car or stop complaining.

to everyone that always comment on the RPM:

Honda Civics get great fuel economy right? So do Fits, and the Yaris, and Corolla?

Check out how high their RPM is on the fwy
