Don't know which year to buy!
 

Hi everyone, im new here and i am pretty much looking to get a g35 coupe - and having the mod bug bite me as well. i love cars and im going to be on this forum for a while once i get my G. my previous cars were a '99 prelude and a '05 roush mustang. I have a few quick questions if you dont mind! :D

I'm looking for the best year that interests ME (can save cash in my pocket).
So correct me if im wrong:
I believe only the 03-04 has brembo brakes...and i like those. But i heard they wear very fast.. Are the new 05/06 brakes good enough to stop 19" rims on a daily basis? (Im looking to purchase aftermarket rims with deep lips :P)

If im not mistaken, the 05/06 have new headlights and tail lights but only the 06 year has LED tail lamps and projector headlamps?

the automatic tranny has more torque but less horsepower..but is the AT really faster?

So what im really trying to ask is..Whats the difference between 05 and 06 headlights and tail lights? And with the same engines, should i look into getting an 05 and swapping out the head/tail lights if i can save around 3-4grand? Would that be the only difference? :)

not that dif. of stopping power from the Brembo and OEM, but better with Brembo when you go after market wheels (it shows more). All model have LED rear and yes only +06 got projector headlight. Why want auto on a sport coupe? If its me, I'll get that money and get the G37 due to too much G driving around...

well to me, i just feel like cruising haha. my racing days are over..too much trouble in that supercharged v8 mustang..and plus i just moved and im going to have to find parking everyday in san francisco so the hills here are very very steep and i just dont feel like dealing with manual again :).

oh and is there a way to swap projector headlights into an 05? and is it troublesome?

and i think the g37 is a little out of my price range..haha!

Get the 03

the first year they came out. keep it original !!
plus they are gonna be the most afforable.

head light swap from 03-05 to 06 is pretty much straight foward. Just search around if any member selling them.

+1 .... you will save a couple grand and there isnt really much difference.. the 03-04 AT coupes just have less HP then the 05-06, but like you said.. you just want a cruiser.. :D I have an 03 6MT n i love it. no complaints.

I would never buy an 03/04 the interior is so disgusting.

Buy an 05.

The only feature that your really losing is bluetooth, and the 06 head lights only cost $600 a pair. Just remember that you have 1 year less of warranty. The tail lights changed slightly in '07 The reverse circle became a slit. AT is slower, 6MT's run about a 5.4 to 5.5, most At's have been reported 5.9-6.1, but some as slow as 8 seconds.

IMO there is no reason to buy '03 or '05

'03 had problems as it was the first year

'05 doesn't have projectors, bluetooth sport bumper and sides with sport package, etc.

Your first decision should be AT or MT.

If you're getting AT - then without a doubt the newer the better.

With MT, I'd say '04 or '06-'07. '04 Will have Brembos and 10 more lb-ft of torque. However, it will have 18 less HP, older headlights, older interior, older taillights, 19's weren't offered with the sport package, and it will have less warranty remaining.

Warranties are 4 yrs/60,000 miles bumper-to-bumper, and 6 years/70,000 miles powertrain.

now one more question...COLOR!?!?!?

ive been looking at the Black Obsidian(Sp?) and the Ivory Pearl and the Lakeshore Slate. Heres the problem

They are all asking the same price.
Black Obsidian has 37k miles. Black interior.
Ivory Pearl has 24k miles and Gray interior.
Lakeshore Slate has only 12k miles and Gray interior.

Of course I love black on black..frankly who doesnt..but they're all the same price and the color i like the least has VERY nice mileage on it..

Does anyone have a Lakeshore Slate with some mods on it? I'm going to search the forums. But this is a very tough decision. I really like the IP color too, such a clean color! :X

Edit:: Actually...wow..the Lakeshore Slate is a VERY cool color! I wonder why i have never noticed it before..great pics on the forums. I'll take a look at this car this weekend!

you seem excited ... if they're all for the same price id go with the 12k mileage lol. lakeshore isnt a bad color either, second nicest IMO ^^

haha who wouldnt be? its a G baby! :P You guys should enjoy driving your cars more, knowing that its better looking than 95% of the garbage out there on the road.

Go with ivory pearl, I have DG but i wish i woulda got Ivory pearl.
