so turns out i can't get a G35
 

well over the past few weeks I have been posting and reading here. A few days ago my dad went to buy me a G, and the dealer talked my him out of buying it! He said its too much power for a 19 yr old girl, and it sux in the snow. My dad told me NO WAY are u getting a rear wheel drive car ever since. So now he wants me to get a 330xi, but I'm trying to get him to agree to buying me the new S4. I'm pissed I can't get a G35, but having an S4 would be nice too!

m3 is like 60k out the door....s4 is like 55k...g35c is like 37k....330xi is like 40k....get the s4..if u want an expensive car that has great interior...but definitely slower than m3's...

while i would take the s4 no questions asked, if you really want a g, make a point of it's safety features, and cite accident statistics (i.e. mortality rate in serious accidents, etc.), and then you can go ahead and convince ur dad that rwd is more predictable in it's behavior. also let him know (whether true or not doesn't really matter) about crime statistics against the various cars, and spin it so that the coupe looks best in all lights.

trust me, its really quite easy to convince parents of things. just look/act prepared in your presentation of why the coupe would be a better choice. any and all statistics could be easily nudged in favor of the truth you wish to present :)

no offense to sedan owners, but the g sedan just isnt fashionable in the college age demographic. theres just no sex appeal to it...but then again, theres a slim chance im wrong.

I'm 23, and got mine at 22 as a college grad gift. Everyone thought it was the sh!t... but then again, they were a different kind of crowd from your normal college students... many of them drove 330xis, A4s, S4s, etc. and were car nuts. I guess tastes change with different crowds.

Girl in a sedan doesn't get me off. I saw a Asian chick, around 20, in a black 350z track. Now that got me off. I'm only 17. =)

ya...if i am 21..college student in soCal....i don't think i will be ever able to pass as "cool" with a g35 sedan....its just not happening around here...with a coupe...its a totally different story....i personally think the sedan looks pretty cool too..i am not sure what young people think these days...
as of snow....to be honest....yes...RWD + snow...no good...

Well I've had both a Sedan and a Coupe within the past 21/2 years...then again...I'm 30...Having a car in college or high school and not having to pay for it?

When you start earning your way and paying for your own toys in life and surviving to pay bills and taxes etc etc etc....When you get there...Think back to today...and appreciate what your "DAD" or parents have done for you to buy you this beautiful G or whatever car you'll get...

Just my $0.02 worth...

By the way..The Sedan - I've had that before the coupe was out...it turned a lot of heads...specially if it's slammed right!

That was leased...the coupe however, on a purchase cost less....so go figure...Whatever you get...appreciate it and enjoy what you have!

Ah. I've noticed a diff. between my reasons for buying the car, and those of some of the people who've responded: I bought my car for me and my own reasons. Whether or not it would pass me off as cool didn't really cross my mind. It was fun to drive, and boasted the best performance in its class. 'Exterior aesthetics as perceived by others' is low on my list of criteria when judging cars...

i agree...its not that we don't appreicate it (my parents going to buy me a car...but i know i will pay them back eventually..thats how my family works) ..its just that i am saying IN MY SCHOOL CROWD (pretty damn huge) g35 sedan is not the hippest thing for our age group....now..if my parents get me a g35 sedan..i am not gonna curse at them or anything...but i would prefer a coupe...BY ALL MEANS....and my parents WILL get me a coupe just if you are curious...because ...if you get a car for your kid...do you want to get a car that he likes? or a car that YOU like..although you probably never gonna touch it?...i know its debatible...but if its me..i would get the one that he likes and get over with it...especially knowing that he will pay me back one way or the other (money in my family means absolutely nothing since i know whatever i put in for this family...eventually going to belong to me)
