What's The Deal?
Ok so call me crazy but everywhere I look, all the cold air intakes are not compatible with my year (07). they all say up to 06 or something like that.. I just don't want to buy one that says up to 06 then realize it actually doesnt fit in my car.. any advice/insight is greatly appreciated..
thanks- |

SEHG35, I don't think you want a cold air intake. The only positive thing you will gain is sound, but you will lose a few horses.
There are also some freak stories of people having their cars shut off while driving on the highway. I emphasize "freak" because it's rare, but it's happened. Intake-wise, in my opinion, no matter what get a z-tube, & either stay with the stock airbox (it's pretty damn good) or get a Stillen intake kit. JWT Popcharger is a nice intake for sound, but because it lacks a good heatshield, when you're stopped at a light, you won't be as fast off the line because the air going into the engine will be pretty hot. If that doesn't matter to you too much, then go for it. |
wow thank you so much.. so the Z tube.. will it actually increase HP and sound? and how do you feel about the short ram intakes? good or no?
I was planning on buying a catback exhaust system when i have the money.. will the Z tube work better with that then a CAI or SRI? thanks again man |
The "Real Deal" is....
Here's the real deal, heat will kill performance! Oh the polished intakes look
very cool and sound good but when the engine compartment gets HOT the intake gets hot too. Then what occurs is heat soak, the air in the intake is much hotter than the outside air and you lose HP. Our cars run so good when it's 35 to 50 degrees, and you can feel it in the throttle response. Stillen makes a CAI/Z-Tube combo for our cars that's not metal and won't be bothered by heat. That was my first mod, and I wouldn't change it for "Pretty!" I believe they even comes in CF....1 800-889-9043.... Gary |
thanks man.. does it void any warranties that i should know about ?
