What's the best way to lower your car if you're on a budget?

I've heard that you can just use springs.. but i've also heard that this can be damaging. Is this true? or is that a big no-no and i should wait for the full springs + shocks deal?

Also, i have 20" wheels. will i need to roll my fenders to make it fit?

sorry for the noob questions.. but i couldnt find anything on this.

*puts on flame suit*

You can pick up a set of springs for 150-200 dollars easy. It will not damage your car at all. It will throw your camber out of alignment and cause increased wear on the insides of your tires. Best to get a set of adjustable camber arms to get your specs back into the normal.

Many many people on here do no use camber arms though. You will not harm your car but will go through tires a little faster than normal.

You will most likely have to roll your fenders as well, depends a great deal on the offset of your rims and size of you rear tires. Can be done very easily by someone with basic knowledge.

you'll be fine with just lowering springs. just keep in mind that the lower you go the more camber you'll get which. Camber, along with toe, will wear through your tires quicker so you'd eventually have to consider camber kits to bring your alignment back into spec.

thanks for the comments guys.. how much would camber kits run me? and what would be a good brand for springs? nothing too expensive.. but decent quality

most ppl on the board get TEIN 350Z Htechs with the spring mount mod to make the rear the same as the front height

what about the Tanabe DF210 without camber arms would that be fine.

J/K dude. Springs, with the rear spring mount mod to even things out are a great option. Highly recommend a rear camber kit, since it will have you money on tires in the long run. The Eibach/SPC rear camber kit should cost around $150 IIRC.

1.5-2? its not for "racing" its just to make it look nicer.. right now my ride with 20s looks a bit.. off road-ish lol

I personally like Eibach. Very light drop and keeps the same stock ride.

Haha, thanks. I nabbed that pic from a post that SIN3 made a year ago, funny I remembered it and found it after a year.

springs are good. but you will end up spending more money later if you are getting coils. i would say go with the tein basic. their good and not for a crazy price

blaccG35 Aug 12, 2009 02:15 AM
