hey everyone, so my friend has an 05 rev-up and he got a new motor from infiniti due to oil consumption 5000 miles ago. he had the oil changed at 2,000 miles on the new motor with no issues. he started his car a few days ago and heard a knocking noise coming from the motor, he had it towed to infinity and it had consumed all but 1 quart of oil. the drainpan was completely dry, the day he heard the knocking he pulled his intake tube off and checked his oil. the dipstick registered ok he said right in the center of L and H. NOW THEY ARE TRYING TO SAY ITS GONNA BE $900.00 JUST FOR THE TAIRDOWN IF HIS MODS HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Wtf? Sounds like they probably put a bad motor into his car from a different oil consumption and thought it was new? lol jk.. But seriously thats some BS crap right there.. Even he had mods I doubt any kind of mod can do that much damage in 5000 miles.

Did he switch out for stock the first time he went to the dealer to get the new motor?

I'm guessing the answer is yes so...

Why didn't he do this again when he took it in?

Try and have them explain how having increased air intake would lead to oil being burned. On a motor that isn't faulty that should never be the case.

Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

Dealer must prove mods caused defect to be denied warranty coverage.

its crazy to think that modifications to the air induction system would have any effect at all on oil consumption.

did they do a long block or short block?

Did you send an email or Mail them something? or did you just call them up?

Paper trails bro.. need to make some. On the phone they can say what ever then when it comes down to it say they never said that or what not. With Emails and more importantly Postal Mail you got physical stuff saying they said this and that.
