Might just be your car battery did you check that yet?

Please provide more details. What was the weather like outside when it was stalling(very rainy, deep puddles, real hot, etc)?..... have you had any other problems lately?... is your fuel economy and/or power way down of late?.... does the car sound weird?... what were you doing when it died(stopped, accelerating, decellerating)... did it overheat at all or make any weird smells or smoke?

Was your car sitting for a long time? What kind and what octane gas are you using? Have you ever cleaned your MAF sensor? Do you have any mods on your car?

i had this when i first got my car it would do it at stop lights sometimes. Its almost as if it stalled out like a manual. I got an oil change the next day cause i was due and after that it stopped.

Check for loose battery cables and Hope its not an electrical problem

Get your alternator tested for free at autozone.

edit: Your battery is only really used to keep things on when your car is off, and for starting your car. Your
alternator is what keeps your car on when your driving, if your alternator is giving out then your battery may
try to compensate, but if its extreme then your car will turn off.

Tell that to my Tahoe when the cable is loose that SOB would shut off mid curve!! Get out tighten the cable and she was as good as new, the alternator tested good!! Crazy!

That's not the case with modern cars.... You need an a battery for things to work right while the car is running... not like the old days of carbureted vehicles.

Add gas:D

dave 12-02-2009 01:10 PM

Do you have a cold air intake?

Does it die when you are giving it gas? Or does it only die when you are not pressing down on the gas pedal?

LightsOut 12-02-2009 01:17 PM

guessing... if you have a cold air intake like AEM. I've read that they cause engine shut off, due to the air flow. something like that

Really? My buddy's car (civic) remote start went nuts one time and wouldn't turn off so he disconnected the battery to try to turn the car off, and it kept running!

Hit the brake... it'll probably shut off unless the engine is revving like crazy to create more current since it thinks the battery needs charging.
