100ll avgas in our G's
What's up guys, just a quick question, maybe more so for the guys in da MIA.
Sunoco on us27 n sheridan sells 100ll avgas. (Guess another quick question anyone know where they sell 100UNLEADED gas in mia?) Was wondering how much can i mix this 100ll gas wit 93 premium to get a lil more performance outta the car? I know the cars not tuned for this kinda extra gas but i figured maybe a gallon or 2 would help throttle response and possibly boost performance a tad. Im running test pipes so im not worried about sensors or my "cats" gettin destroyed since i dont got any. From the research i've done a gallon or 2 wont hurt at all if i fill it up with maybe half or full tank of 93. Feedback is greatly appreciated :) |
so you want to buy race gas or airplane gas? Do you even know how much that would be $$ for daily driving if it even worked?!
|
never knew any gas station sold avgas
|
well its 100ll i just thought it was Avgas. Not gonna daily drive puttin that gas in, i dont really daily drive my G and for 5 bucks a gallon i thought a gallon or 2 wouldnt be so bad to put in.

If your ECU isn't pulling timing from knocking or pinging now, no real benefit upping the octane. Tune for higher octane, then yes you'll feel the diff.
Wish us west coast peeps had 93 to start out with. They bend us over with 91 and now with no lube with 91E10. |
Let me be the first to tell you that the lead in avgas will foul up your O2 sensors. I work on aircraft, i seen it happen to many times :P

I use 103 unleaded when I go to the track no issues. If you use anthing higher that is leaded that is when you will get into killing o2 sensors. I am pretty sure that 100 octane is not avgas av gas is like 110 or 113.

Ahh ok thanks, so how do i tell my tuner that? Im not running a full tank of 100ll just like a gallon or 2 in a half tank maybe.. So we'd have to mix in the 2 i guess n see how much octane rating we might have.

100LL is av gas. You can tell cause its kinda blue and it smells sweet. Ill sump you some everytime I fly and eventually ill get ya enough to fill up :P.

Thanks D, and it would be safe to fill up with 103 UNleaded to a full tank right? Also if i fill up wit 103 and get my tuner to tune wit 103 UNleaded, when i go back to 93 octane will i have any problems?
