G35 Coupe Tein S-tech's need front and rear camber?
 
I just currently ordered some Tein S-techs for my 2006 g35 coupe. Am I going to need a camber kit? I hear that it does not require a camber kit if its only 1.2" front and .9" rear. If I do need a camber kit would a rear camber be enough? I am not looking forward to buying both the front and rear camber kits :52:. Please some help/knowledge would be helpful!

My front tires had a short life when I had my S-techs on. I recommend at least a front camber kit.

how were your rear tires? were they fine?

herrchaft that's probably because you didnt get an alignment afterwards.

Put your S-techs on and get an alignment that should alleviate a lot of tire wear problems.

I had S-techs for a long time without any abnormal tire wear, and that's with a springmount mod, so I had around 1.3 drop in rear... but I got myself a real good alignment right after I installed them. And this is on 20 inch wheels by the way.

So you didnt have any camber with that big of a drop? I heard I don't need camber with the S-techs on my coupe and that it won't wear down my tires.

I had an alignment done immediately afterwards. I think my camber was around -1.3 to -1.5, which destroyed my tires, maybe the place I went to sucked. From people's experiences on here, I've seen many members with/with out camber issues when it came to S-techs. :dunno:

isnt that fine? anything below -2 would damage the tires fast. Thats what I thought. This camber thing is really annoying me lol. :confused2:

If you do the spring mount mod, you just need the rear chamber kit. Just buy the rear.

Well if you want to do it right, get front and rear chamber kits. Most drops will require both. I got both SPC fronts and rear camber kits. But I think you can pull off just getting a rear kit for S-techs. You will have some front tire wear but not as much as the rear without a kit.

Listen, the definitive answer is that there is very little adjustment with OEM camber arms, which means when you drop your car significantly as with the S-Techs, you are largely at the mercy of however your car settles to determine your alignment numbers.

How acceptable the increased tire wear is, depends on your driving habits, amount of miles you put on your car, and just your personal preference. So it's really hard to say whether you 'need' them or not; you can drive your car just fine without camber kits at all. But whether the tire wear and crappy performance is acceptable to you is another issue altogether.

I've got approximately -1.0 camber with my current setup and I still get a small amount of uneven wear on the inside of my tires. I see your from CA so I assume your familiar with Palomar Mountain, maybe this is why my tire wear is more evident then others.

^I agree. Maybe if I drove "normally" all the time my camber wouldn't have been an issue. :dunno:

Well I ordered some Megan Racing Rear Cambers. I think I will have to wait on the front cambers. Why are cambers more expensive then the springs. That is dumb!!:mad:

You gotta pay to play with this car. You will probably need a front kit as well. It's a lot cheaper to just spend the money on the kit than replacing tires every 6-8000 miles. Remember that!!
