I'm soooo stupid!!!

I cand believe I'm gonna tell everyone on g-35 driver what happened to me today!!! So as some of you might know I have been doing some work on my brakes. Changing the rotors and pads. I even took off work early today to get my project finished up. So I tighten my last lug nut and get all my tools out of the way...gonna go for a test drive. start the car, put on my seatbelt, step on the brake as I shift into reverse. We all know how high the idle is when we first start our cars...The car takes off, I go to hit the brakes and NOTHING!!!! holy ****!!!! In my panic all I could think to do was pump the brakes...E brake didnt even pop into my head it was all so fast. BAMM BAMM!!! in reverse over a 8-9 inch curb and onto be basketball court in my apt. complex. Damn lucky no one was playing ball and there was no cars parked directly dehind me where there usually are. If I had done this after work there would definatly have been cars parked there!! So anyway about half way threw the B-ball court my calipers begin to engage and I come to a slow stop. Get out look under the car suprisingly not that much damage some scratches on my muffler and some other places. Next look around to see who saw me....No one in sight undelivable!!! I elected to not even tell my wife what had happened. GOD! I am an idiot. So lesson learned here: If you do any kind of brake work make sure you have a good pedel before you throw it in gear!!! and alway use your E-brake!!!:banghead:

I've seen it happen at a shop I worked at when I was a teenager. The shop was also part of a gas station (aka. service station; remember those?) An employee went to move an 80s civic that just had its brakes replaced and was carb'd of course and when he started it the fast idle feature was active, he put it in reverse it took off and he managed to miss a parked car, turn right and go between gas pumps missing them and other cars while pumping the brakes. He finally got the pressure up and stopped it. He was ghost white afterwards. Since he didn't hit anything we just made fun of him and everyone took it as a lesson learned, check brake pressure before even starting the car.

learning process, i did the same thing in an 88 dodge ramcharger (mudtruck) except i was going slow and threw her in neutral

Hahahah I can kind of relate to this.. Good thing it was in my beater '92 Maxima and when I was 17. Haha first brake job I did and I forgot to pump the breaks before trying them out like the guy at the shop told me to do...... Didn't hit anything though and barely left the garage before I remembered and pulled the snot out of my ebrake. LOL good times.

Glad you didn't hurt yourself or anyone else. That's most important... The rest is just sh*ts and giggles =P
