hfc's for inspection in va
i live in va and we have to have hfc's for inspection:( i was wondering if i should get a pair of stillen/kinetix or some other quality brand or try to gut my stock hfc's? i'm getting a better exhaust system soon and want test pipes but this state blows. will i have to gut the aftermarket hfc's or do the come gutted?

^California's worse.
Do they do smog checks in VA? Most aftermarket HFC's still have catalytic converters in them and should pass emissions testing. If your just trying to pass a visual then gutting the stock HFC's might be the best route, as long as you find a way so it doesn't trip any codes. |
VA just has a visual..... or you could find some sketch place to do one for you.... just a thought..

Theres a mustang dealer called acars right off birdneck dude is shady im sure he wouldnt check.

Besides most shops will never know the difference between stock cats and hfc's.

I watched closely this year when I got my first smog check, he didn't look under my coupe nor did he look down from the top where our converters are. HFCs will pass smog but I'm still concerned about a visual....so I'll wait until after the 1st of the year to get my Berks.

Try Art Walker Auto Services off Lynnhaven Pkwy. 2636 Dean Drive, Virginia Beach, VA. If you fail, it's only a $1 for a re-inspection. If you need to swap out HFC's to stock cat's can be done in a hour or so. ( I have alot of wrench time on my G35) BTW there is no such thing as Stock HFC (High Flow Cat). Also why would you spend $500 on HFC's, just to gut them out, thats a huge waste of money. If you want to gut anything out, buy some used OEM cats and gut those. |
