Options for replacing front intake "coupler"
 

Hey Guys - Long time lurker - recently bought an 05 5AT - In the process of changing plugs and removing the air filter / intake, I tore the front (nearest the filter) pliable rubber coupler... I don't believe the dealer sells this piece seperately.

What are my options? Anyone used something aftermarket? Heat and age take their toll on the rubber so not sure if I should try to find a used OEM piece unless someone has a low mileage one they wish to part with....

I'd say just go for a used ztube. Those are all one piece and where the g35 has that rubber coupler part, the ztube is all plastic so your problem shouldn't come back.

The Z-tube uses the same rubber coupler in the front near the filter...

Oh sorry, I thought the part with ridges on it was part of the coupler, woops! I'd still say a used G or Z tube would be your best best. Should be able to find just the tube w/ the piece you need for fairly cheap in the marketplace.

Something like this would work you just need to find one long enough, most couplers are only about 3" and I think the gap is closer to 4-5". I did look at an OEM parts diagram and it looks like you'd have buy the whole g-tube to get that accordion coupler. Maybe try a junk yard those types of couplers are pretty common.

you can probably get something from autozone in the intakes section that will work.. they have these ghetto make it yourself intakes and sells it by parts.. im sure you could find that coupler there... its just a basic rubber hose thats pretty wide.

Im having the same issue but my coupler that attaches to my TB is the one that is falling victim from so many removals etc. Im wanting to replace the stock tube with a Z tube but from what i've seen from all the vendors is that they specifically mention the couplers are NOT included. My coupler has begun cracking behind the hose clamp im guessing from me overtightening it. It is 3" inner diameter right?? I was pretty much already planning on just picking up some universal 3" hose and some decent clamps to take care of the problem.

You know i've been strolling through these forums forever and was just too lazy to register, so glad I did. Everyone here is so helpful for us who aren't full blown mechanics. I'd give myself a 5/10 on my mechanical skills and I can usually fix most things in my 03 G35 just by looking through the DIY section. but anyways..

back on topic will that work i mean the coupler is really just an angled 3" hose isnt it?? or is it 3.5"??

An OEM ztube will replace everything. The Stillen "ztube" uses the G35 rubber couplers. The oem one is all one piece.

Here's a comparison I found online. The OEM ztube has both "couplers" built in.

I would go the Z tube route.

I used oem z-tube cost more but its oem. They cant say it voids my warranty ! It is oem
