She's drowning!

Hi,

My name is Jim, new to the forum, new to the G, been an owner of an 06 IP Coupe 6MT for almost a month now but all the problems are starting to show and I'm hoping someone can help me out of this one.

Anyways... my first problem is I bought this car used at a Chevy dealer, 35k miles, clean title. All stock except for wheels, coilovers w/ EDFC, and cables for the system that was taken out.

By week one I found over spray on the A pillar and gas door seals :/
It was a nice paint job and I already signed the line so I said whatever and got over it.

During the last 3 weeks I occasionally noticed a "wet clothes" smell thinking because it's from my wet shoes getting the floor mats wet I feel my driver side carpet and its dry so I just carry on with my day.

Today I smell it again! I feel the passenger carpet and it was soaked! I furiously but gently lifted a corner of the carpet only to find water in there... not sure where it's coming from yet but there's definitely about an inch of water down there. I snoop around and I find some kinda of sealant across the passenger floorwell... hmmm... can this be 2 cars? (See pics attached) with the low millage I jumped to conclusion that it was 2 cars just from being painted alone, but not it looks more apparent.

Lastly, if this is indeed 2 cars anything I can do? It was only an 18 point inspection and I have not a clue what the laws are for selling me what appears to be a lemon! I live in Hawaii BTW :driving:

I have access to legal advice just wondering if it worth wasting their time, thanks!

yeah, what frankie said. check to see if you have any water comin from the hvac assembly. could be a backed up drain hose where the evap is.

check the hole where the amp power wire enter your car... the "installer" may have forgotten to seal it back up after they drilled the hole...

the silicone sealant posted in your picture is normal.. i have them in my car too

^^^^what he said.. I think CandlestickPark had an issue with his power cable hole.. idk if it was him.

JNKCV54E6808G35 Jan 13, 2011 10:44 PM

A lot of water around the hose area

Can it be this?

I did notice after a drive there would be a puddle of water coming from under the car dripping from that area... ?

x2

Common problem if they drill a hole through your cars firewall (to run wires through), but don't properly seal it afterwords.

Try to see if there is moisture running off any of the wires, starting at the point where they meet the firewall.

I followed the blue cable goes through the firewall on the driver side through the boot...

yeah i have the same problem and still cant figure it out i took every thing apart and nothing yet

JNKCV54E6808G35 Jan 13, 2011 10:57 PM

It may be the boot since it looks like he made another hole in it... it sure is a lot of friggin water but it rains hard in Hawaii... I'll try some RTV and let you guys know how it goes, nice to know im not the only one... :) Thanks for the inputs!

that the evap drain hose? put it back thru the firewall cuz the water drains out of it so if its just hangin inside then ding ding ding
