while I was putting in my MB Quart speakers this past week, I discovered that the factory tweeter had CLARION printed on them... what's this all about? oh well... it's irrelevant now... but did anybody else noticed this?

I'm not surprised - the head unit is made by Clarion too.

Question - does this mean the weird Bose impedence doesn't apply to the tweeters? (1 ohm). What are the dimensions of these tweeters - just curious so I can go out and buy something to replace without worry about whether they'd fit.

So how to the MB Quart speakers sound? As much as I thought myself to be an audiophile, I've never heard of them. Why does everyone on here seem to be using these over other brands? If you replace the stock speakers with these, but keep the same Bose head unit, how much of a sound improvement does it provide? I know the head unit is difficult to change because of the way its built in. I'm going to be getting my coupe in about a week and hate to think that its going to have a lower quality sound system than my Honda Civic (which I did totally re-do).

my philosphy when it comes to sound is.

badass headunit/reciever/amp x average speakers = average sound

average headunit/reciever/amp x badasss speakers = badass sound

badass x badass = badass^2

the point im trying to make here is some people feel that sound quality and clairty come from the headunit. These people will go out and buy $1000 headunits and then keep there speakers stock.

I can agree with you on that. So my question is, how good is the Bose head unit? Understandably I can't really change it very easily, so the point is perhaps a little moot. Just curious though. I guess I'll have to change the speakers eventually after my pocket can recoup from the down payment.

eh. you'll need amp a good amp section as well... I'm running precision power amps.

Changing the amp will improve sound as well as help match the impedance on the speakers.
