Are u not consuming oil?

I changed from 5w-30 to 0w-40. Help the burning of the oil. From the usual 3-4 qts to 2qts.

I'm about 1/4 -1/2 quart per oil change, still use 5w-30.

Original engine with 68K miles. Burns right about .5Q every 3000 miles. I use Amsoil 5W-30 full synth.
