Suspension on this car feels... squirmy?

i did also notice that my rear sway bar end links were knocking... it was one of those things i was definitely going to replace.. but i havent really found any decent ones that were also relatively budget priced..
oh yea and i also found that my lower control arm bushing on the front pass. side is broken and no longer centered...

Part of the instability you're feeling may be due to worn shocks/suspension with those kinda miles on her clock. Quality tires will also remove the squirmy feeling your receiving. I can drive SLICK in terrible weather all day long and she's solid never showing any unwanted responses. Spend the extra $$ for Michelin tires, you'll be glad you did....Gary

yeah I noticed the exact same thing. It just feels squirrely if it is the slightest bit wet out. And if I even think of driving in snow without the traction control on it goes off to the side.
I used to have a Firebird that was awesome in the snow, I'm thinking the longer wheelbase and better tires helped. I think I had a good set of Nokian's on it that worked wonders.
Not sure what your running right now but it might be worth the investment. Right now I have whatever the VW dealership I bought it from put on. They even got the rear tire size wrong, so I have narrow tires that doesn't really help.
If you do get new tires I would be interested in knowing if they help.

made a WORLD of a difference for me, and it was a 15min job for my 2 rears(1st time) stock everything but the links were shot, I think i paid like $20 total for both links online. you wont regret it and im sure a ser of aftermarket swaybars will do wonders also! I got used to that "squirmy" feeling after a while but after changing out the end links it reminds me more of my Z solid...
