factory 18's i want them black should i paint them or go the powder coat route?
 

or if there is another way and if you got pics to share thatd be nice as well.. i want the rims in black of course i have a 2005 coupe

Powder coat.
Just tried repainting my lip on one wheel and the paint didn't stick worth a sh*t. Sanded them, cleaned them with alcohol, used adhesive promoter, sprayed them in a dust free environment, didn't make a difference.

Dont even waste your time or money. Have them professionally sprayed. Do it right the 1st time.

so you say go with powder coat? how bout if i get them painted professionally?

i would say paint them but a lot of prep work is needed. I spent 12 hours on mine and they lasted a long long time. Powdercoating is too expensive for just stock wheels.

You could paint them but if you want them to look good be prepared to do it often cause paint chips easily and fades. Powder coating, makes your wheels bullet proof so you'll have zero issue forever....Gary

Powder Coat!!!

I say paint. If you ever get tired of the color or curb the wheel or scratch it all you have to do is repspray it and it costs you like $10. I've painted my wheels 3 times now & painted wheels for friends. As long as you know what your doing no one will know the difference. I've had tons of people ask where I got my wheels powdercoated and they don't believe me when I say I painted them.

Both have their pros and cons, but I say powder coat. It's far more durable than a standard painted finish would be. To powder coat them to black wouldn't be too much.

Powder-coat would be the more permanent solution....personally i wouldn't powder-coat 18's. They're not worth it lol

^^ what he said. not worth it..most likely ur going to upgrade eventually.getting paint to stick and stay on the wheel for any length of time is all in the prep,if theyre done correctly paint will not only stay,it will look good. ive done sets in the past and have had success. there should be DIYs somewhere on the site or net

lol. I love the look of the stock 18's. But power coat is the better route. My wheels had areas repainted and it already chipping off.

Powdercoat will stand up to any driving conditions, including Winter.
