Quick video clip of my car's exhaust note
Just got a GoPro Hero2 the other day and decided I wanted to know what my car sounded like if I was standing behind it.
Just a quick run around the block. I do a 2nd gear pull around 1:25-1:30 - other than that mostly just regular driving shifting at 3-4K. Mods are listed in the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qk1ng...ature=youtu.be |
Where did you have the camera mounted... on the trunk lid or rear bumper?
Watching a video from that perspective reminds me of that first "Getaway in Stockholm" video of the jazzed up Porsche 911 ripping through city streets and evading the cops. I saw in your video comments that you had headers and some other mods, but you didn't say anything about the rest of your exhaust... is the rest stock? |
It was on the rear bumper.
Yeah. The exhaust is all stock except headers. |
Sounds great man. Hard to tell if the exhaust sounds good because of the mods or just because the camera is so close to it. What mods did you add that gave you a marked change in exhaust sound?
|
Changing the sound of your exhaust you should have replaced the OE cats with HFCs rather than spending your $$ on headers which didn't make a significant change or improvement....Gary

My friend said the sound on camera is very close to the sound in person. The camera being that close makes it sound a bit deeper, but that's about it. Unfortunately with my car I put the intake on and had that for a while, then when I had my engine rebuilt the plenum spacer and headers went on at the same time (along with my port and polish), so I'm not sure which sound came from which. My intake seemed to make the pitch a bit higher and after the rebuild my car seemed to have a deep rumble woven in with the existing exhaust note.

I should also mention that since my headers were installed during my engine rebuild/swap, I didn't pay any extra labor. Just paid for the headers themselves, which were just $450 shipped off Amazon.

For about the same price you could have installed FI HFCs that would have made a real difference in how your exhaust sounds. Not trying to burst you bubble but how good are $450= headers?
Gary And I really do not understand your argument. You keep saying I could have made a bigger difference in my exhaust note by getting HFCs. But the issue is I like the stock exhaust note and did not want to change it. |
