Please say it isn't so, LOUD CLICKING from..
2003 coupe - 105k~
Sad sad day for me...:52: I go out to the garage today to start my car, everything is fine.. I put it into reverse gear and start to lightly let of the gas to pull out, as I'm doing that, a Loud and very concerning noise/clicking was comming from the back of the car, (around the back wheels and such) Also when i put it into First/Drive. it was not as loud as reverse gear, but still had a clicking noise. :dunno::dunno: Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLqgxcFHWbQ I have a really bad feeling its my trans.. And if it is, I have no idea what I'm going to do.. I appreciate any help |

^^^ sounds right and not a big deal

I think its the exhaust, possibly hit it loose? Sounds as if its rattling.
did my best to get the sound in the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLqgxcFHWbQ |
Yeah that is no axle click you have. More than likely exhaust where the midpipe meets the muffler or where it bolts up to the body. Put it up on a rack or jack stands to have a look underneath. Just make sure you are safe and the vehicle is secure before you get under to investigate.

That's definitely a heat shield that fell and is hitting a moving or vibrating part.

It starts to make the noise only when i put it in gear (drive/reverse) - Still sound like heat shield? - How much am i looking to spend to fix that? how could it have gotten loose? - I had my car in yesterday at sears, I was going to get my tires replaced but since they had the wrong tire size, i did not proceed with the tire change and they put my original tires back on, could they have tampered/Mess up the heat shield some-how? |

A heat shield is just a thin piece of metal, held on by bolts or welding tacks. I don't know what they could have done to screw it up, but it's not a big deal. You need to jack the car up and tap them to figure out which one is loose, then you can just remove it or fix it. I know I removed some of mine to fit the TDX2 on. |

I have that same problem on mine. The exhaust has a weld spot that broke apart, cheap crap. Its small. Its been loose for so long now it probably has shook enough to make another weld spot come loose. Im a save to get something better and just going to live with the noise for now. But check the little welds on the exhaust.

Wouldn't a quick weld cost you like 5-10 bucks? Why would you live with that?

RESOLVED - UPDATE. Took it to my mechanic and we threw it on the lift, checked it out, and my gasket connecting to my muffler was hanging/ rusted off. -___- He cut off the rusty one, welded a new one it. So it was the broken pipe rattling..
I did notice my muffler sounds significantly quieter, any thoughts? possibly wrong gasket? |
