2003 coupe - 105k~

Sad sad day for me...:52:

I go out to the garage today to start my car, everything is fine.. I put it into reverse gear and start to lightly let of the gas to pull out, as I'm doing that, a Loud and very concerning noise/clicking was comming from the back of the car, (around the back wheels and such) Also when i put it into First/Drive. it was not as loud as reverse gear, but still had a clicking noise. :dunno::dunno:

I have a really bad feeling its my trans.. And if it is, I have no idea what I'm going to do..

I appreciate any help

^^^ sounds right and not a big deal

I think its the exhaust, possibly hit it loose? Sounds as if its rattling.

did my best to get the sound in the video.

Yeah that is no axle click you have. More than likely exhaust where the midpipe meets the muffler or where it bolts up to the body. Put it up on a rack or jack stands to have a look underneath. Just make sure you are safe and the vehicle is secure before you get under to investigate.

That's definitely a heat shield that fell and is hitting a moving or vibrating part.

It starts to make the noise only when i put it in gear (drive/reverse) - Still sound like heat shield? - How much am i looking to spend to fix that? how could it have gotten loose?

- I had my car in yesterday at sears, I was going to get my tires replaced but since they had the wrong tire size, i did not proceed with the tire change and they put my original tires back on, could they have tampered/Mess up the heat shield some-how?

I'd look into this more.

Have you looked underneath the car?

Yes and yes.

A heat shield is just a thin piece of metal, held on by bolts or welding tacks. I don't know what they could have done to screw it up, but it's not a big deal. You need to jack the car up and tap them to figure out which one is loose, then you can just remove it or fix it. I know I removed some of mine to fit the TDX2 on.

Yeah, nothing looks unusual, or hanging/loose. I'm not sure im looking in the right place, is it above the muffler?:dunno:

I have that same problem on mine. The exhaust has a weld spot that broke apart, cheap crap. Its small. Its been loose for so long now it probably has shook enough to make another weld spot come loose. Im a save to get something better and just going to live with the noise for now. But check the little welds on the exhaust.

Wouldn't a quick weld cost you like 5-10 bucks? Why would you live with that?

Lol I dont know. Until you asked the question. I really never thought too much of it . It goes away after I drive. And probably more, every damn week seems like something goes wrong with my car. Im not happy with the G. I love it but not happy. Still have more years to pay but my door lock has gone out, window has stopped working 1 day now all of a sudden works.my cd player dont work. my antifreeze level plays tricks on me. Engine doesnt feel the same. lol there more that goes wrong every week something new so when that muffler happened just another bs problem.Maybe when more money comes in I can upgrade different things on the car and all these problems will go away. O yea and oil lvl too been main concern. About a good 2k miles of driving it will be low to almost danger low. Just 99 problems but a beoch aint 1. Thanks for listening to me vent this damn car.

RESOLVED - UPDATE. Took it to my mechanic and we threw it on the lift, checked it out, and my gasket connecting to my muffler was hanging/ rusted off. -___- He cut off the rusty one, welded a new one it. So it was the broken pipe rattling..

I did notice my muffler sounds significantly quieter, any thoughts? possibly wrong gasket?
