Let's Talk Insurance
I am waiting on my 05 Manual DG/G Coupe to arrive in a couple weeks. In the meantime I need to shop around for financing and insurance.
Previously I had Survivor (cheap) Insurance for my 98 Chevy Malibu in which I only had Liability Insurance for which I paid ~$35/mo. So my question to you all is: Which is the best Car Insurance company based on cost, customer service, coverage, response time, etc...? I kow a lot depends on your age, driving record, having an existing policy, multiple cars, and other factors not listed. A little about me: single, 33 years old, clean driving record (knock on wood), not a homeowner, nor do I own another car, live in the San Francisco Bay Area (been taking BART to work the last couple of months). Btw, San Mateo Credit Union is offering 4.25% on a new car loan, good deal? Thanks in advance for everybody's feedback. Ndn |
I wonder how it is for a 16yr old with a G35

There is no easy answer for this. The fact is, while pricing is mainly based on risk, it also targets specific customers. If a company wants a certain type of risk, they will give incentive to that market to buy. In the insurance industry it will be in the form of rates. For a company that wants to primarily carry conservative risks and keep out the high risk customers, they will price the higher risks in a higher pricing tier. Many companies have several books of business where they target a more conservative market with one policy and perhaps the higher risk market with another.

i'm 20 with a 04 6MT SEDAN and i've had quite a few speeding tickets, 3 confirmed on my record. But i'm currently awaiting the trial of my 70 in a 30 , reckless driving, and my registration wasnt signed. I have an excellent lawyer who is good with the county's prosecutor, so i'm hoping for the best. Anyways back to your original question my insurance rate is $300 a month with a 1,000 deductible. i live in Indiana. It's outrageous, but what can i do?

usually younger kids, like my self, are on our parent's policy and simply pay an additional fee off their policy instead of taking out a seperate policy. Therfore we don't get the whole 16/M $4389484/month fee and also get a multicar and multiline ( health etc.. ) disc. it's also good for minors to have a good student discount, this save you literaly half the yearly premium. Anyways DUDE I SUGGEST YOU HAVING SOME DECENT LIMITS ON THIS CAR IT'S BRAND NEW, WORTH AT LEAST 35,000 YOU DON'T WANNA GO DRIVING AROUND WITH LIABILITY ONLY, YOU WILL SCREW YOURSELF OVER IN THE END.

o btw when you finance a car there going to require pip/pd of at least 100/300 if im not mistaking. or something depending on your state.

I think i win. Try 20 years old with a DUI when i was 18. Cant feed off parents insurance, they booted me off, im too much risk. Only a few places will insure me, i personaly think progressive is the cheapest, great service too. Right now i got liability for like 120 a month, stupid.. i know. Soon ill have comp and collision added, lookin at about $6-7k/year.

Personally have State Farm Insurance, and receive a Multi-Line discount: two other cars and my house, and pay $67/month full coverage with a $250 discount. I have been extremely happy with SFI, my agent is on top of things, he calls whenever we are eligible for discounts and has really provided us with excellent service.
4.25% is a pretty good rate, depending on your local rates, I know here in Columbus, OH there are only 3 companies currently under 5% for 60 months, and one of them has a pre-payment penalty. I would check out www.bankrates.com and search there just to get an idea... |
6-7K a year! Ouch that hurts!

I'm 33 yrs old, home owner, no tickets and with Farmers Insurance for over 15 years. My full coverage (liability & Collision + under insured motorist) is $77/month. I have 3.75% finance from Seattle area credit union for 60months term. I've been happy with Farmers with 2 accidents (not my fault) with very quick response.

the biggest thing is where the car is garaged(zip code), and driven, and how far to work.
Lived in Los Altos all my life (30 miles south of san fran) and moved to So Cal 18 months ago. Not like LA, about 90 miles out. We figures our rates would go down, instead they went up 80% and when I got the G... oh my god I am 46, married, no tickets, no accidents (well none of those in more than 5 years) Now I own my home, so I carry 500k/250k liability, I have been with the company for 15 years, etc, multi car discount (my wife) The ins costs abot $150 month, and I have been lookingt, best I have found is still $110 - 120 a month. |
Damn I fell you Turq I'm 20 years old on my unlces policy paying $269.00 a month with 1k deductible full coverage but now I recently got 3 tickets 2 speeding tickets and one for making an illegal right turn.
the first ticket is 55mph in a 35 the second is , the illegal turn and the latest one...... 107mph in a 55 I don't wan't to know what is gonna happen to my insurance I'm seriously worried about it now.
