I'm learning about my car
 

So I've had my 2004 G35 coupe for two weeks now and I love it. However, there are a couple of "problems" that I need help with. First off, any time it rains I have no traction if I accelerate somewhat hard. I know its not my tires or VDC. Is it just RWD that I am experiencing? Second, when I try and roll my windows down from the key fob, they only go down about an inch. Finally, my driver's door doesn't seem to have the "notches" in the hinge that keep it open. What would you guys suggest for "fixing" these?

1) Welcome to RWD, the car will spin tires easily on wet pavement, there is enough horsepower to get into trouble.
2) Do a search on window motor reset, that should solve your problem
3) Correct, you can tell a G owner because they always have bruises on their shins from the doors closing on them

My brother has an 04 G sedan yet he does not have the skidding problem. Any idea why?

J/K I have no clue, he probably drives with the VDC on at all times and is careful in the rain.

I just bought my coupe last week and this is one of things I hate the most about the car lolol. But I still love it!

Why would you accelerate at speed under wet conditions? That's just not bright, try using a little common sense! You can lower both your windows by inserting your key in the drivers side lock twisting left, other than the switches inside that's all that should lower your windows. Your windows are designed to lower 1 inch unlocking the doors and will raise that amount when closing it. Have you tried cleaning and then lubing your hinges, that makes em work easier. Your door will never stay open parked facing up hill but they will stay open if you're parked level....make sense?

took me awhile to get use to the doors but the great thing is that most of the time I get out quickly enough that it just closes for me :D

If this is your 1st RWD car please always keep your VDC on in the rain, you can very easily end up hurting yourself and others by being a "bada$$" and driving with it off. This car has more than enough power to get you into ssrious problems because you're over estimating your skills as a driver. In my 1st coupe (an 04) I could roll the windows down by holding the unlock button. You have to apply a little more pressure to the button and keep it consistent. The door is the door... no fixing it. Train yourself to always hold the door open while entering and exiting the vehicle. Don't forget to pull your seatbelt in properly as well, they are notorious for not retracting and getting caught in the door.

Vdc doesn't "completely" stop slippage
The unlock button needs to be held down until the windows are all the way down or they will stop when you let go of the button
Doors are heavy and unless you're on a completely flat surface, they will prolly close

^ no, but it does a pretty good job of it, and if you can still manage to have traction problems in the rain with the vdc on then its not the car, its the driver. RWD platforms are the most forgiving and controllable out there, you just need common sense and experience driving in general.
