Is it time to upgrade??

Living in socal the G35 coupe has lost most of its respect in the car meet scene.. Specially with the price going lower everyday people have been modding the car in a very unappealing way in a sense "ricing out" the car. Plus we do also loose to most cars in a race just cause our cars are pretty heavy. What do you guys think should we move on? Have most people moved on that were previously all about g35s?

We should all move over to Prius'. Can't go wrong there. That way you don't lose the teardrop body style and no kids are buying and ricing those, matter of fact!

OP if you are truly bored of the G35 then get rid of it and move on. Don't let this new stereotype of it being a kids car get in the way. Enjoy it for what it is....or get a G37

If that's the way you think about the cars you own, then go ahead and move on to something else. Jump to a new m3 or c63 amg or something. You won't have to worry about the rice boys being able to afford them.

That's just how it is. Imagine when GTR-'s become more affordable. Same difference.

i didnt mean to offend anyone. I was just asking what you guys would do. I honestly love my car and spent a lot of time and money into it. From what you guys have seen and been through does the car still hold up its name or if given a chance to buy a 2010 m3 or c63 with 30k miles would you do it?

I feel you on the loss of respect, cause i see a ton of G's on the road and most of them being teens with no sense of style or older soccer moms that cant drive worth **** either. And so i delegated my G to be my DD and i just picked up a corvette c6 convert as my weekend drive. it def has a different sort of crowd. mostly older gents and no ricers.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods
I don't rely on getting respect from someone to enjoy anything in my life. I love my G as much today as I did when I bought it many years ago and I don't give 2 sh**s what anyone else thinks about her. She's at 117K and I'll daily her until she hits 200K or blows up. She's gone through many transformations some good and some painful, but she makes me smile any time I look at her.

Reminds me of a Lincoln commercial several years ago in which a hot brunette looks at the camera and purrs "When you turn on your car does it return the favor?" Amanda sure does.

Moral of the story: do what you like, not what makes you look cool to others.

The answer to your question depends on you, do you still enjoy driving your G? I wouldn't move onto a BMW I'd be concerned I'd pick up those azzholes attitudes! I still love driving SLICK and people still break their necks looking at her and giving me a thumbs up....Gary

If you're going to let the respect of the "Socal Car Meet Scene" drive whether or not you like and/or enjoy your car, good luck to you in staying happy and not going broke.

I can see how you feel especially in SoCal. I've been all over the country and world, and nowhere else in the world does like SoCal in the car enthusiasts world. The level of car modding and the scene in general is on a whole different level. If you want to be known in SoCal, you have to step up your game. Being in the military, Ive seen guys who were "the ****" in their home town in the middle nowhere Alabama move to SoCal and quickly realize that SoCal doesn't play. Even high dollar cars can get "played out".
