Warning! OUr car can now be easily Stolen!!!
alright Guys Somebody might have posted this already just making sure.LAPD confirmed this.
Seems that car thieves have found yet another way to steal your car or truck without any effort at all. The car thieves peer through the windshield of your car or truck, write down the VIN # from the label on the dash, go to the local car dealership and request a duplicate key based on the VIN #. and that's it!!! Somebody tried this at a chrysler dealership pretended they've lost their keys then gave them a VIN # and a key was made on the spot. I don't know how Infiniti deals with this... Have any one tried to get a new set of keys? By the way LAPD suggested that we can cover the VIN# with a tape. the law only says we cannot remove it but we can cover it. |
reeeeeeeeeeeeepppppppppooooooooooosssssssssssttttt ttttt

DAMN... That sucks... I'm going to cover up my Vin today when I get home...
Look, the only way you can get new keys made is with the tag number.
The dealership does not keep the tag number, only the owner has this. VIN MEANS NOTHING. |
Sorry Guys..... My Bad :D Just wanted to help.
Yeah, lets just post ways to steal our car to the whole world.
Eleanor!!!
covering up your vin number is not going to help they can just run you plates and get your vin# if they really want it.
well since you have to have the car to program the key i dont think that will work on ours
If they want it bad enough they can take it. That's why I pay insurance.
^agreed If they realy want it and they cant get around all the security they'll just flatbed it.
^ word. every car is not theft proof with the help of a tow truck/flatbed, and money to pay off the security/dealer employee.
likewise with the insured vehicle thing. gotta make sure your full coverage also has higher premiums just in case something foul should occur. also, remember to "lock and load" just before bed, or whenever you leave your vehicle!! and the VIN number issue has been out since the early 90's. this information is so old. these days require the owner of the vehicle to personally get access to new keys. if your mommy or daddy's name is on the registration, but only you drive the car (spoiled keeds), then only your parents can get the copy. it's possible for someone else (the spoiled keed), to get a copy only if the dealer has contacted with the owner. a dealer can get seriously busted if they gave a copy of keys to a misc. someone. if that's the case, you might as well not give a rip if your G/vehicle was stolen, because thats a very nice lawsuit against them! expect to get a couple vehicles from them, or a higher manufacturer after collection time!!!! |
