My Harley doesnt have an auto option either. Does see how it has anything to do with the G35 though.

I failed myself back into a corner, my comment made zero sense... Lets try this again,

The new age of sport and sport luxury cars are moving into automatic transmissions, while ours in the g35 isn't as responsive it's still pretty good for the cost of the vehicle. Vs a gtr at 110,000, at which price it better shift with no lag etc etc because its a purpose built sports car

That is where your mistake lies. You are assuming 1 that all auto transmissions are all the same, they are not. Also 2, you are assuming the GTR has an auto transmission, it does not. GTR has a semi-auto transmission, meaning it is actually has dual manual transmissions that are electronically shifted. The computer actuates pneumatics that depress the clutch and shift, just like a manual but much faster. The GTR has nothing to do with the G35, but if you had to make a comparison, it is closer to the 6MT than the 5AT.

you can call it "dual clutch" or "semi-auto" all you want it has two pedals and the option to put it in drive and go, and is therefore a bitch stick regardless of how it is mechanically different than a normal Auto trans.

The way I see it is as a driver they will lose the experience of driving a manual but since they're forced to drive wat is still pretty much an auto Nissan made up for it by making the trans a lot better lol. Eventually more common cars will get the dual clutch action. Ie the Ford focus has it too now I think.

Ok right on, I wants completely familiar with the trans myself. Dual clutch is pretty nice, quick and responsive. However I keep hearing that the trams from the gtr is the weak link of the whole car. There was alot of issues with them when they first came out, all the way to about 2012 I believe

I dont "call" it that, that is what they are. A semi-auto transmission has more in common with a manual transmission than an automatic transmission.

Yes more moving pieces make it more prone to failure. Also it was designed for speed (about a 60 milisec shift), not high power capacity. But like anything, with enough money you can modify it to handle any amount of power.

Well generally auto simply means auto as in it shifts gears automagically for u lol so it is technically an autotrans no matter how u disect it .

You are entitled to see it anyway you choose. Still facts remain that it operates nothing at all like a standard auto trans and has nothing to do with the G35 at all.

You actually had me there...just for a second!!! Smart Car...yea right. The SLR transmission actually sucks. If you want quick, decisive shifts better go with the SLR Black Edition available from the maker of the Smart Car.
