Complete Exhaust System Change Out

Just a heads up, but I am in the process of doing this right now on a 2009 370Z with my 2003 G35 6spd Coupe to follow.

From the cats back the system just about falls off the car in 15-20 minutes. The passenger side header was gone in about an hour with the cat attached. The driver side held me up with the very back nut taking quite a bit of time to get to and break loose. The steering shaft has to come apart for the header to come out on the Z - not sure if that is needed on the G yet. All of this is done with the car up on jack stands and a really good selection of tools.

I will be writing this up on my personal blog but I don't think it is right to post the link here so if anyone wishes to read it, hit me up and I will give you the link to it. :)

What would be very nice and a real value to members here and our brothers over at Z would be pic of each step. The tools you used, issues you discovered along the way and how you resolved them. So...you have zero exhaust system on the Z what are you installing?

You're absolutely right, why should anyone else bother to share their work or information? Thanks for saving me the time.:thewave:

Im confused. Is this simply just removing exhaust systems from G/Zs?

ScraggleRock 06-18-2014 06:27 AM

I did this in Russia wearing sisters pantyhose.

No please do. We are all on the edge of out seats here. This new idea of simply reading the step by step instructions that come with an exhaust and changing out a stock exhaust will open up a whole new world of modding possibilities here. Even though the G35 has been out for 11 years, no one has ever thought of removing the 10 or so bolts holding on the stock exhaust. You sir are a pioneer and I tip my hat to you.

What is next up in that mad head of yours? Are you going to change out an intake?

10 posts since 2009. What possessed you to come back to post this?

Took him 5 years to plan out how to pull the mod off. This isnt a simple bolt on mod that can be done in 3-4 hours in your driveway. This takes an engineering degree, years of study and meticulous notes to pull off correctly. If done wrong, you could blow the welds off your intake.

But if done right...the world is yours
