Can't fill up my car all the way...anyone else?

Hello,

Everytime I fill my car up with gas, I get in and the needle never reaches the full line...this is even when I purposely OVERFILL the tank. Is it the mechanism inside the tank, the needle or a government conspiracy to bring me to the gas station more often so they can use a laser to probe into my brain and steal secrets about a 1,000 hp G35 I'll have one day?

Man this has been happening to me for the longest time. Don't know what the problem is. I'm in the same boat as you Randy.

might be a problem with your sending units... go to your local dealer, some even stock them!

I think its the car Randy, its taking into account the 5 buxs it takes u to turn over that engine :D

Mine too. Just started happening at about 16K miles. Tell me this then...when I drove it yesterday all the way down to under the E line, with the light on for about 60 miles and I went to fill it, it still only took about 18 gallons. Does this mean that I had 2 gallons left, or that it just did not fill up all the way??

GRider35c Feb 19, 2005 04:39 PM

u had 2 gallons left... if you were truly out of gas, the car would stall, and thats VERY bad for your car...

i always fill @ 1/4 tank

After 27 months, mine just started showing those same symptoms. With my last 4 or 5 fill-ups, my needle has only been registering about 2 "ticks" below full. I would intentionally try to top it off, and still not show full. I"m thinking sending unit as well. My last 3 cars have had theirs replaced at one time or another. :(
