Can someone tell me if there's a way to tell if used seatbelts need to be reset
 

What I am asking is I wanted to get different color seatbelts and I found a good deal on some but I'm second guessing if I should buy them because it's a safety part and don't want to buy seatbelts that have been in an accident. Is there a way to test them on the spot to know if there good,or anything to look for?. Do they lock up or something?. If anyone can let me know I'd appreciate it and thanks in advance.

i looked into this for a while. when you take the seatbelts if you shake them and you hear a distinct rattle, they are blown. also where the yellow pin plugs in, use a flat heat to pry out the small plastic retainer to expose two pins, take a multimeter and check the resistance between them, if there is no reading or if the reading keeps jumping around it also means its blown. how were the belts color changed? dye?

thanks you great mustang and legendary cakestar for the quick responses. No dye there khaki and I wanted black. Any reading I should look for? Also do you guys know what NG means in the manual? I think I now know how to test them now because of your tips but would still like to decipher what NG means, . This is what page 9 of the seatbelt section says;

SEAT BELT RETRACTOR OFF-VEHICLE CHECK
1. Remove the seat belt retractor assembly.
2. Slowly pull out webbing while tilting the retractor assembly forward from the mounted position without
twisting the retractor assembly as shown in the illustration.


15 degrees or less tilt : Webbing can be pulled out.
35 degrees or more tilt : Webbing locks and cannot be pulled out.
If NG, replace the retractor assembly.

NG=Not Good, seriously.

Ya that's what I thought it meant but since it was abbreviated I thought it might mean something far more superiorly technologically advanced. Hey, they're safety parts.

i used this video and actually had seatbelts rebuilt by the same company. 50$ per belt

If the seat belts came out of a car were the airbags were deployed, you do not to buy them. The pretensioner charge for the belt normally go off the same time the airbags goes off.

Thanks again cakestar I didn't even think to check YouTube. And ya I knew if the seatbelts were in an accident they need to be repaired. Was trying to find out how to check them on the spot incase someone was trying to be a shiester or they themself were unaware they were blown and I know now how, thanks for all the Intel.
