New 6k HID bulb question !
hey guys bought some kensun 6k hid bulbs off amazon to upgrade the shitty lighting on the 2005 coupe and after I had put the wheels back on and everything I thought I was done! I waited til it got dark and when I turned them on was surprised at how different each side looked . Not the color or anything but the driver side seems much brighter and shines on the ground a lot more . I tried adjusting it through the adjustment in the engine bay but it didn't help much . Anybody else experience this ? Here are some pictures: thanks to who ever can help me out !

Also My service engine soon light turned on 2 weeks ago hadn't gotten around to checking it but I noticed this morning it turned off after I changed the bulbs and put the tires back on hmmm wonder what it could have been?

Well... Did you make sure to see if your fog lights were on or not? Because what it looks like to me is the fog light on your passenger side is out. It doesn't appear that the light shining on the ground is your headlight. If that were actually the case then there's something wrong with the reflectors in the headlight.
Regarding your SES... That's impossible to know without more information... Or a code pull. Changing your light bulbs and tires alone have nothing to do with SES. |
Well my brights weren't on if that's what you mean , yeah seems like it's something with the reflectors inside the headlight should I take apart the housing and clean the inside maybe ? I'm not sure what else to do

No, I said fog lights. Our cars have fog lights that are integrated into the headlight. It appears that you have your fog lights on, and that the passenger side fog light is out.
Check to make sure your fog light is OFF. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/g35driv...324ccaee7c.jpg |
Oh **** Okay I see, well the only lights that were on were the headlights , is the fog lights a separate bulb ? I don't think they were on but I'm not so sure now thanks for your help bruh

Yes, they are separate bulbs. Take a look sometime and verify whether your fogs are on or off. Oh, and to add on about the 6000k vs 8000k... 6000k is probably the highest temp you should go. Any more and the color turns to stupid purple and you start to loose a lot of visibility. In fact, for me, 6000k is already to much. I have 5200k bulbs and they're perfect for me. |
Nice detailed replies guys helped so much. I verified and only the upper lights are on and the bottom lights on the housing were the highs and fogs are were off. I mean the hid bulbs are brand new I don't know why it's reflecting the light differently inside the housing ! :dunno:

do the bulbs look identical? maybe one is damaged.

Is it a D2s bulb or D2r? The d2s bulb I believe has a ceramic coating on the tip. Maybe this will help
D2R bulbs are used in Reflector type headlights. where they are a bit more restrictive of how much light they allow to pass. D2S bulbs are only used in Projector typeheadlight*where the bulbs pretty much outputs max light and the projector itself cas the metal plate built in to alow a specific cutoff. |

Can you confirm the bulbs is installed properly. Technical explanation for the glare on the ground is that the bulbs is not properly aligned with the reflector, so you have light hitting the reflector features at angles not originally designed. My first instinct is to make sure the bulbs is seated properly and not cocked. If it is fine, i'd compare it to the original bulbs. A cheap HID bulb might not have the focal point in the right place, so you'll need to compare the two bulbs |
Are they brighter?

def make sure bulbs are seated correctly. this can be a world of difference id they are not. if not seated right, the hot spot could be way off. also from your pics, it looks like the drivers side is way higher up than the passenger.

Has to do with the biology of your eye. You don't see blue as well. |
