Had a work Halloween party. We ordered a couple smaller kegs (canisters). Nobody drank anything so I figured I'd take them home and use em this weekend. Wrapped everything up and my co-worker decided to load them up without taking the taps off.

Needless to say, a fair amount of beer (not terrible.. but soaked the first mat thoroughly). The second mat was wet a little bit as well, but mostly above the right hand side above the wheel jack kit.

I pulled both mats, and the liner above the spare wheel. I'm wondering how can I remove that entire plastic side section where the wheel jack is? Not the jack itself, but the black plastic piece that extends across the right side. As in, the entire assembly. I think some beer may have gotten underneath that as I can still smell beer.. /sigh. And I guess I'm going to use soap and water with rags and just wipe down everything I can..

 

 

Use a shampooer over the counter brand, one from an attachment on your home carpet shampooer, the local car wash might have one, and finally a local fancy car wash.

I did buy a cleaner and I stripped the entire trunk, even the plastic pieces on both sides..

Shampoo'd and wiped down everything.. still smells a little bit. I hope this dissipates.. I must have spent a good two hours.

 

Okay, so this is going to sound weird. But you need something to absorb the smell. Not saying that I have done this, but you could try leaving kitty litter in an open container like a box, in the trunk overnight. See if that makes a difference. Don't forget to take it out before you drive, or else you might have an even bigger mess haha

 

My wife broke an entire gallon jug of white wine in my brand new van, many years ago. I got to it fairly fast and removed ALL the seats and ALL the carpet. Took it to a high pressure car wash and hosed down the carpets real good. I let them dry for about a week and put them back in. No smell. You should do the same.

 

Once all the carpets, etc. are cleaned, you can also try this:
