Seat Swap

I have the opportunity to pick up a pair of 2010 seats out of a G37.......however I own a 2005 G35. Both of these vehicles are coupes. Can these seats be upgraded to the 2010 in my 05? If so, how difficult is it to do so?

I already know this isn't a plug and play scenario, as the plugs are different. My 05 has bladed plugs, and the 10 has pinned.

Is it worth the time and effort or would it be wiser to just find a set of plug and play seats?

I wanted to do this swap for the longest time, but could not find anyone with a g37 to get together on the weekend, pull the seats out and see what we working with.

as far as the plugs go, I don't think it's going to be an issue, all you have to do is simply take G37 plugs off and put yours on or just splice the wires (assuming that there is a same amount of wires)
The mounting bracket I bet can also be modified slightly to mount or even G35 mounting bracket could be mounted on G37 seat (I think it's going to be the easiest way).

In any case, if you do decide to tackle this, You'll be my personal hero.

Go for it.

How much are G37 seats?

Wow Joker, really? And you're a moderator here? Maybe I'm on the wrong forum........

What's funny is JOKER asked this exact question like 7 years ago: https://g35driver.com/forums/g-spot/...g37-seats.html

He pretty much laid it out for you in post #2; wiring will need to be spliced and the brackets might need to be swapped.

I'd say you're on the right forum ....with the wrong attitude.

Edit:
Spent an additional 5 minutes searching and came up with this info: "The bolt pattern is the same but instead of there being an alignment pin on the floor it is on the seat bracket on the 370Z seat. All you have to do is cut it off and then drill a hole in the flange to fit the alignment pin on the floor of the 350." One forum even mentioned an issue with the seat belt buckle. I had better luck with the Z guys since they're always modding something.

So the short answer is that it fits, with minor modifications.

Apologies

I have the ability to get frustrated and not read things the way the way they are intended, and/or written.

I clearly owe you an apology Joker......and I am sorry.

I've located a totaled 08, and I will be harvesting the wiring upstream from the seat this weekend.....provided of course the connections are the same. if not......I'm going to drop back 10 and punt on this one .

I'll post up when I have some definitive information.:BEAVISnBUTTHEAD:

Mines been sitting at turbo toys for a couple months and they have tons of g37 seats. Problem is the car is on the lift and behind about 10 other cars. So getting to it is a problem. I can however try and find one in their bone yard and see if it fits this weekend.

I'm interested to see how this goes. Cool idea and project..

so there are some information in the service manual regarding the colors of the wires and what each does.
So essentially you can splice motor wires into correct wires on the new plug and have a power function working. It's slightly confusing since the plugs are all numbered and you cant really tell which one is which, but at least the info is there.

Service manuals for bunch of years

Just did the swap and I can tell you this:

The rail closest to the door lines up fine. However, the interior rail center console side does not. Reason is somewhat as the 350z issue. The alignment pin and bolt hole are off by an inch. You could get it to work by cutting off the pin. But you will have to also bend the front interior rail to bolt down and those two things will cause your inner rail to be a little off from the other. So you will lose an inch in adjustment because the seat rail on the console side will be an inch off from being straight compared to the rail on the door side. It also may make the seat sit a little crooked.

so were there seats put in 350Z? What car were they taken out of?
