Welcome to G35 Driver Seattle! I've been running HAWK HPS pads for over 10 years, low dust and great stopping ability! They do require doing the "Bed in Process" which requires 10 minutes of driving time once installed! (Search HAWK bed in process) Available from our Marketplace under vendor brakes...look for the vendor with the best price!
Good Luck and enjoy the ride...Gary

I run Hawk pads on my Boosted 240sx that I'm tracking and I love the stopping force/power I get with the ride rotor/tire selection Ofcourse

But FOR THE STREET what is "the perfect pad" at a good price?

What do you consider a good price? One thing I always tell people (especially those who can't or won't do the install work themselves) is not to skimp on quality when it comes to brake pads for a little up-front monetary savings. The difference in price between quality pads and low quality is really not that significant when you consider how long a good set will last you and how much someone else will charge you to install pads regardless of what the brand is. If you install crap pads and they blow out in 10K miles and take your rotors with them, you still have to pay a guy to do the install work for new stuff and you're back at square 1. Good pads should last longer and will hopefully dust less and give you a solid warning when they are about done, so you can avoid having to prematurely replace rotors.

Yeah that is fine, I'm about to take off all the wheels to check the calipers to make sure they aren't the culprits like some mention it could be.

You could just have a bunch of crud stuck in the slide pins which is preventing free movement of the pads. Seeing how much the factory pads dust, that wouldn't surprise me at all.

For the street and the track they are pretty darn good brakes,I use them for the whole year/season and they are good(by end off the season they starting to have some heat/stress cracks on the pads(nothing serious though) and same with the 2 piece rotors. And my boosted cars spends most of its time on the track then the streets, but I do have them in my 2003 GLE Maxima also and they are good.

I have a completely different opinion than those here who recommend the Hawk HPS pads. I bought a set years back after reading so many glowing reviews on Driver. Long story short I hated them so much I literally gave them away to a friend after 1000 miles. Lo and behold he gave them away as well after only 500 miles. They had horrible cold bite, made tons of noise and the stopping power after being warmed up was no better than stock IMHO. I also have multiple friends with different brands of cars that report the same dissatisfaction with the HPS's as well. And before anyone decries "Did you bed them in properly" or "What kind of crappy rotors did you try them on" give me a fvcking break. I've been around long enough for everyone to know I am intelligent and thorough when it comes to my rides. So yes they were bedded in properly on DBA 4000 rotors. I said this in another thread recently, I believe expensive performance pads are a waste on a stock G, just go with a ceramic pad like the Akebono ProAct or the Wagner Thermoquiet that you can get at just about any auto parts store and you'll be good to go. I ran the Wagners for years and was very happy with their performance and price. IIRC they were less than $40 a pair back then, not sure about these days.

OP take this post for what it's worth. I know that opinions are like azzholes, everyone has them and they all stink and that includes mine I'm sure.

i think i'll get the hawk HPS pads when i start modding the car. my question is will the akebono or thermoquiet last with the brembo calipers?

dofu 08-17-2016 03:07 PM

For a daily driver, I would highly suggest Project Mu. Endless are ok, but they don't bite as well. If you are on a budget, go with Akebonos.

I have never been a fan of Hawk brake pads for any application - been there, done that, tossed them out and just ended up wasting my money.

+3 on Project Mu. My B-Force are perfect on the street in my Brembo equipped G35 Coupe.
+4 on having a bad previous experience with Hawks for street use.... not on a G35 though.

Good luck with the Hawks, a lot of us as you can tell would not recommend them. I can't answer your question about the Brembo rotors because I've never owned Brembos. I can say they worked well and held up well with slotted DBA rotors.
