Advice for for my diamond 2004 G35 coupe

Hi I am new to this forum and new to the vehicle. I was hoping if you guys can help me with what I should to my 2004 G35 Coupe (Diamond colour) that improves the performance of the car and also makes it look better. The car has only one previous owner and everything is stocked, actual mileage is 37,878 (I know right?). My plan so far is to get Miro Type 398 wheels (matte black, 19'), CAI, tune the car, and Motordyne Shockwave TDX2. Which CAI is best? I want to increase the performance of the vehicle but it will also be my daily driver so I also want to make it run good and reliable. If you guys can help me with some advice I will deeply appreciate it!https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/g35driv...063639e4a0.jpg

Skip the CAI.... they do nothing. Just get a Z-tube.
Throw a Motordyne plenum spacer on too. It's hard to get performance from these cars beyond the factory standards withoit spending big $ since they are fairly high strung and efficient motors to begin with.

Thanks partyman66!!!

Do you think the Motordyne Shockwave TDX2 is a good choice? The car sounds nice right now but I was hoping to make it sounds more aggressive.

I've heard others sing high praises of that exhaust but I can't speak from personal experience.

I think you would gain more performance though from high flow cats and a tune than a cat back exhaust on these cars. Do all 3 if you can afford it and don't mind dumping money into your car. Keep in mind that these are old cars now... so any money you put into it won't come back to you when you sell it, and any performance you gain will pretty much just put you closer to the starting performance specs of most modern cars but likely without the reliability.

If I were you I'd just drive the car as is for a bit. Get used to it and then determine if you want to really spend money on it.

Great Advice! Thanks again partyman66

Consider waiting till a shockwave / TDX comes up for sale in the used market, but they are definitely worth the money. Pair it with a good HFC or the ART pipes. You don’t put an HFC on a stock exhaust. Rasping City.

As for the intake and other “performance mods”, plenum spacer and gtfo :).

Hi Eric, there are several mods you can make beginning with a Stillen CAI/Z-Tube since you will need the extra air for Motordynes 5/16" plenum spacer. (a must buy) I suggest once you get Motordynes exhaust installed you include Fast Intentions HFC since most of the restriction in our exhaust systems is those factory cats! Once all this is installed you'll need a tune, my Osiris tune was worth 25 WHP and almost that much torque!
Good Luck Eric, "Congratulation" on finding a low mileage coupe...enjoy the ride!
